Trump blames intern for tweet mocking Iowans
Donald Trump’s presidential campaign blamed an intern for a controversial retweet that suggested Iowans had “issues in the brain”. Too much #Monsanto in the #corn creates issues in the brain? He has an nearly unheard of 84 – 10 percent favorability rating among likely Republican Caucus-goers, compared to Trump’s 53 – 43 percent rating. Des Moines Register chief politics reporter Jennifer Jacobs wrote on Twitter, linking to the tweet. Fusion, an English-language network jointly owned by Univision and ABC, also reported its staff was denied entry, even though they said the Trump campaign had earlier approved its media credentials.
The young intern who accidentally did a Retweet apologizes.
Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump dismissed polls that show him trailing Dr. Ben Carson in Iowa, calling the retired neurosurgeon “super low-energy” before a boisterous crowd in Miami on Friday night. The Quinnipiac poll in Iowa was the first survey of the state since July not to show Trump in first place.
When CNN asked Trump whether he endorses what he retweets this August, he said, “Well I do retweets, and I mean, to a certain extent, I do, yeah”.
“I think there’s another element sometimes when he’s on camera”, Carson said.
“If she doesn’t have enough judgment to know better than that, I don’t want you to have the keys to everything”, he said. “Organizing is very important”. We have the best people, we have a tremendous group of people who are dedicated to making this really special.
He also said the polls in Iowa “are wrong” and said most pollsters “don’t like me at all”.
