Trump blames media for star tweet uproar
But Donald Trump, the presumptive GOP nominee, isn’t almost as happy with the president’s offering.
His tweet came after Mic News reported on Sunday the image attacking Clinton, which included the words: “History made” and, inside the star, “most corrupt candidate ever!” had been shared on a neo-Nazi web forum called /pol/.
The image had previously appeared on a white supremacist message board filled with anti-Semitic messages as well as the Twitter feed of a self-identified comedian who tweeted provocative and offensive images.
Trump’s stumbles were suddenly back in the spotlight on a weekend that would have otherwise focused on Clinton’s vulnerabilities.
“It wasn’t a retweet, he tweeted it.it was under his account and it’s important because the imagery is unquestionably anti-Semitic, and I understand why Trump’s people are embarrassed and might want to change the subject, but this is not a subject that you do that with”, he explained.
“And a Twitter user, “@Fishbonehead1”, who frequently posted Islamophobic and racist memes, claimed credit for the original image shortly before the account was deleted.
Still, critics on both sides of the subject took to Twitter in response to Trump’s latest tweet.
It remains unclear where the campaign found the image.
In his statement, Trump accused Clinton’s campaign of using the tweet to try to “divert attention from the dishonest behavior of herself and her husband”.
Presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton blasted Donald Trump on Monday after her Republican rival posted a “blatantly anti-Semitic” tweet. Doing this is seen by some as the Trump campaign’s way of catering to extremist viewpoints while still being able to deny that they are doing so.
It’s not the first time Trump’s own controversies have overshadowed Clinton’s as a result of the presumptive Republican nominee’s unforced errors.
The race for the White House heated up over this holiday weekend.
But the June 15 rally was postponed due to the mass shooting at an Orlando nightclub.
“Who pays” for Obama’s appearance with Clinton? Trump senior adviser Ed Brookover also contributed to the narrative, telling CNN there “never was any intention of anti-Semitism” while sloughing off the graphic’s origin. The star next to the Hillary image has six, like a Star of David.
He slammed a “totally rigged” system that likely will not bring criminal charges against Clinton and criticized former President Bill Clinton’s private meeting with the U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch just days earlier.
He then tweeted condolences on the passing of Holocaust survivor and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Elie Wiesel.
To recognize and condemn this anti-Semitic image is to merely live in reality and possess a modicum of decency. He’s considered another running-mate prospect. The billionaire real estate mogul tweeted an image of Clinton’s face placed in front of a pile of money. WhiteGenocideTM’s account lists its location as “Jewmerica”.
Black and white people are more likely to be killed by someone of their own race, according to Federal Bureau of Investigation crime statistics.
This isn’t the first time the Trump campaign has gotten into trouble over a connection to white supremacists, is it? He would later tweet “I disavow” regarding Duke’s support and blamed his initial refusal on a faulty earpiece. “But if they can keep North Carolina competitive, that forces Trump to spend much needed resources that can’t be spent in Ohio, Wisconsin or MI”.
Later, Trump said: “That was a tough question on Israel”. “A woman wrote an article that’s inaccurate”.
Now, questions continue to swirl around how his campaign obtained and chose to tweet a graphic that had circulated on a message board filled with anti-Semitic conspiracy theories and neo-Nazi message boards – and whether he will repudiate the support of individuals who prescribe to that ideology.
