Trump blasts San Juan mayor over relief efforts
The U.S. president’s trip to a New Jersey golf course is said to have delayed the island’s intended aid, according to reports. I am begging. Begging anyone who can hear us to save us from dying.
Cruz said she will not be “distracted by small comments, by politics, by petty issues”.
He further said that the results of recovery efforts would speak much louder than complaints by San Juan Mayor.

President Trump drew the ire of Hollywood after launching a Twitter attack on San Juan Mayor Carmen Yulín Cruz Saturday (Sept. 30).
In a string of tweets released Saturday morning, Trump criticized the mayor of Puerto Rico’s capital city for “poor leadership”.
Many were appalled by Trump’s incredible lack of empathy and concern for the population of Puerto Rico – and Hollywood was certainly no different.
Later in the day, President Trump did an about-face when he praised other officials in Puerto Rico, adding on Twitter, “Do not believe the fake news”.
Hurricane Maria left many of Puerto Rico’s 3.4 million United States citizens without shelter, water, power, and other basic necessities.
Ms Cruz had blasted acting Homeland Security Secretary Elaine Duke for telling reporters at the White House that that the relief efforts were “a good-news story in terms of our ability to reach people and the limited number of deaths that have taken place”. All of which, gas, water and food are scarce or sitting at the Port of San Juan waiting for someone to deliver them. “Mayday! We are in trouble”, Cruz said at a press conference Friday.
Trump, who is scheduled to visit the island on Tuesday, said his government was doing an “amazing job”.
