Trump Booed by Conservative Crowd After Attacks on Cruz
“For whatever reason Donald doesn’t react well when he’s going down in the polls”, Ted Cruz said. All of the audio was taken from Trump’s introductory remarks at a fundraising dinner in February 2014, during the halcyon days of the two candidates’ bromance – long before their relationship curdled into a fitful circus of recrimination over Cruz’s birthplace and Trump’s “New York values”.
Republican Presidential candidate, Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, speaks at a Conservative Leadership Project presidential forum, Friday, Jan. 15, 2016, in Columbia, S.C.
Cruz also mentioned Trump at another campaign held last Saturday. Goldman Sachs owns him, he will do anything they demand.
Cruz said he is “all in” in each of the states that vote in February: Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina and Nevada.
In a five-way contest between those candidates, Mr. Trump led with 35 percent, followed by Mr. Cruz at 19 percent, Mr. Rubio at 16 percent, Mr. Bush at 15 percent, and Mr. Carson at 10 percent.
“Ted Cruz said he “didn’t know” that he was a Canadian Citizen”, Trump wrote.
At the tea party event, Cruz railed against “crony capitalism” and corporate titans in league with big government. Rubio said he believes anyone who has been in the US fewer than a dozen years must return, and criminals will be deported.
Trump has become a figure of controversy throughout the campaign for his various immigration proposals, which have included deportation of all illegal immigrants, an end to birthright citizenship and a call to bar all Muslims from entering the United States after last month’s San Bernardino terror attack.
In addition, a report cited that when Trump was leading the Republican polls in September, he was asked whether Cruz, who was born in Canada to an American mother, is eligible for presidency. “In light of the World Trade Center and in light of…the firemen that went up those buildings and they were killed instantaneously…He’s putting down the great people of NY”.
“He explained that his views were that he was very pro-choice, he supported partial birth abortion, he was open to gay marriage, and his explanation for all of that was, ‘I’m a New Yorker, ‘” Cruz told Fox.
As always, take these rankings for what they are: one political reporter’s best guess at who will accept the nomination when the GOP gathers in Cleveland this summer.
For Trump, the offensive continued his pattern of aggressiveness toward whichever of his rivals he says have attacked him first, from Jeb Bush and Rand Paul to former candidates like Rick Perry and Lindsey Graham. “I mean, they loaned him a million dollars, so they certainly have control over him”, Trump said on CNN’s “State of the Union”.
