Trump booed for criticizing Fiorina over interruption
Maybe Donald Trump, whose recent interview on 60 Minutes aired the same night as one with Putin, said, “We were stablemates on 60 Minutes and that went pretty well”, in response to a question about Syria, Ukraine and Russian Federation.
Trump has been criticized in the past for comments directed at women, particularly after a series of comments about Fox News host Megyn Kelly during the first GOP debate in August.
Political and media professionals lauded the debate format as more issue-oriented than the previous one. Trump’s tone, playing to the audience with an “Am I right, fellas?” kind of smirk, made it even worse.
Moments after Trump’s remarks at the debate, GOP presidential rival former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina shot back at the billionaire, saying she actually had a “private meeting” with Putin. “So Mr. Trump ought to know that we should not speak to people from a position of weakness”, Fiorina said.
Hours of men interrupting each other and Trump says of Fiorina: “Why does she keep interrupting everybody?” In fact, Fiorina herself has described their 2001 meeting using the exact phrase “green room”. “But I thought somebody had to tell her it’s time to stop”. “So I wouldn’t talk to him for a while”. “I don’t need to hear from him”.
So the roles were flipped Tuesday night: Fiorina actually met Putin in a “green room-type setting”, though she maintained she hadn’t, and Trump did not, though he maintained he had.
