Trump calls for investigation into 2010 Pelosi-Russia meeting
President Donald Trump has responded to growing concerns about his administration’s ties to Russian Federation – by trolling Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer in a tweet.
The photo appears to be from 2003, when Putin made a public appearance at a New York City gas station that had recently been bought by Russia’s Lukoil.
For real, Trump wants “an immediate investigation” and called Schumer “a total hypocrite” over these “ties to Russian Federation and Putin”.
A Washington Post report this week found that Sessions had in fact communicated twice with the Russian ambassador past year, including “at the height of what US intelligence officials say was a Russian cyber campaign to upend the USA presidential race”.
Schumer shot back on Twitter that he would “happily talk” about his contact with Putin and the Russian leader’s associates.
Mr Trump also tweeted on Friday about House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, who was among the first to call for Mr Sessions to resign.
The president, in calling for a probe into Schumer’s “ties to Russian Federation and Putin” also called the New York Senator “A total hypocrite!” Intelligence officials have concluded that Russian Federation was attempting to interfere with the election to sway the results in Trump’s favor.
Thursday the Trump AG Jeff Sessions lying to the Senate about his contacts with Russian Federation scandal hit the fan, which followed the Flynn fired for lying about contacts with Russian Federation scandal. Trump posted a link to an article by Politico showing her meeting then-Russian president Dmitriy Medvedev in 2010 with Kislyak in attendance.
Schumer and Pelosi both tweeted responses to Trump. On Friday, the Russian foreign minister said that the scandal around Kislyak’s contacts with the USA administration officials during the presidential campaign looked like a witch hunt. Just hours before Trump spoke, Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Sergei Ryabkov, said that relations were now at the lowest point since the Cold War. Schumer has taken a bite from his doughnut, while Putin is looking down at his with a little less enthusiasm.
Turns out, Chuck Schumer isn’t the only Democrat playing big fat hypocrite on the manufactured controversy involving Attorney General Jeff Sessions. It is not illegal or uncommon for US politicians to meet with ambassadors or foreign heads of state.
Other Trump aides have met with Kislyak as well, including his son-in-law and senior adviser Jared Kushner.
