Trump calls Orlando shooter a ‘son of a b—-‘
I hate to bring this up, but I have to, as a native of MI, its alarming that I’ve heard from family reports of at least 5-6 shootings alone in the past 2-3 months, where kids, yes kids have been killed because they got their hands on their parents or grandparents gun that was NOT SECURED and fired the gun killing themselves, someone else, or causing injury to themselves.
Kevin Kiley (R): Legislators have a duty to protect the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens while keeping firearms out of the hands of unsafe criminals. And if it’s not statements attempting to shift the narrative away from gun control and onto Obama’s foreign policy, it could be questionable messaging plays that attract a solid segment of pro-Donald Trump voters who might reward the former 2008 GOP nominee with down-ballot support.
Bill Dodd (D): It is long past time to stop people who shouldn’t have access to guns, most particularly mentally ill people, from acquiring them. It was adopted in 1791. You won’t be able to carry it openly, and your local police department can deny you a concealed carry permit if it thinks you shouldn’t have it. So I am wishing not to push a political agenda, but to say that people should have the right to live without fear of violence in their places of work, school, worship, and community. That leaves a lot of open questions.
While assault weapons equipped with high-capacity magazines are used in only a small percentage of crimes, holding down the size of magazines could save lives, Johns Hopkins’ researchers reported in 2012.
The Pulse nightclub killer Omar Mateen legally bought guns from this gun shop, St. Lucie Shooting Center, in Port Saint Lucie, Florida.
Sponsors argue the bill could help insulate the public from future mass shootings by individuals who at one time were under government scrutiny.
“People are confused”, says Winkler.
Once again, there are various reactions, much as before: genuine sorrow, politicians’ promises, crocodile tears and much glee by gun dealers at the prospect of sales rocketing again at the threat of gun-control measures. The part that makes an angry individual pick up a weapon, be it a gun, knife or a crowbar, and take the life of another.
Collins told reporters on Thursday that barring people on terrorism watch lists from weapons purchases carried with it the risk of affecting people who have been swept onto the lists without good cause. Assault weapons do get used in mass murders – one was used in Orlando – but there are other rifles with the same capacities. Nope, chances are, they’re itching to use it. Gun buyers may wait longer to use what they buy, but the big difference between that heroin and the gun is that the addict is only likely to kill themselves gradually, while the gunman is likely to take a few dozen people with him, or wake up to find his toddler shot a friend in the head.
The American people are scared and angry – and they should be. Her plan is to disarm law-abiding Americans, abolishing the Second Amendment, and leaving only the bad guys and terrorists with guns.
The latest political gun battle in the USA looks as though it’ll end the usual way, with no meaningful change in the nation’s gun laws, even in the wake of unprecedented bloodshed. For one thing, in rural areas they are the gun of choice for nuisance wildlife control – used against coyotes or prairie dogs. Armoured vehicles should be legal for citizens to drive around, wherever they want, fully loaded and ready to blast bullets at the slightest provocation.
To me, fatherhood means being there.
“I would like to avoid any political issues and stick to the facts regarding this case”.
-Clinton, responding to Trump’s criticism: “He said I’ll abolish the Second Amendment”.
Second, any action this country takes must have the support of responsible gun owners.
After meeting the victims’ families, Obama said “our hearts are broken too” and insisted the tone of the country’s hyper-partisan debate on firearms “needs to change”. Back then, he says, guns just weren’t very useful for self-defense because people had to reload after every round. I would lessen restrictions on gun ownership while increasing the penalty for stealing a gun. This is NOT a gun or NRA issue this is a basic freedom and Constitutional rights issue.
The 1994 law might have been even more successful had it been crafted more strictly. But with the NRA opposed to the idea and flexing extraordinary muscle on Capitol Hill, it has been a no-go in Congress.
From the U.S. Census Bureau we reviewed poverty rates by state for 2014.
Murphy explains that she grew up in a family that had never been touched by any form of gun violence, accidental or intentional, and that she was always taught to respect the power that a weapon of such magnitude holds.
