Trump campaign bans Iowa newspaper from event
Trump’s campaign manager, Corey Lewandowski, told the paper that the decision to ban the Register was a direct effect of the paper’s editorial on Tuesday, which was entitled “Trump should pull the plug on his bloviating side show” and called him a “feckless blowhard”. Perry, 64, has been accused of threatening to defund the office of a county attorney who was investigating his political donors while he was governor of Texas.
Register political columnist Kathie Obradovich was informed Friday that she had been denied a credential to the event, a “family picnic” featuring Trump that will be held at 11 a.m. Connecticut on Saturday at the George Daily Community Auditorium in Oskaloosa. But sentient racist chain letter Donald Trump is undeterred; The Des Moines Register cannot come to his party.
Trump’s campaign promised to reconsider The Register’s status in future events.
Earlier this week, the Register editorial board called for Trump to drop out of the race, stating in part that the business mogul seems wholly unqualified to sit in the White House. The campaign denied them press credentials, reporters said.
In a statement, Amalie Nash, the Register’s editor and vice president for audience engagement, emphasized the division between the newspaper’s news and opinion desks.
“As we previously said, the editorial has no bearing on our news coverage”.
“The best way Donald Trump can serve his country is by apologizing to McCain and terminating this ill-conceived campaign”. In response to a reporter’s question about the debate, Fiorina said FOX News made the rules and Trump has met them. Nash urged the Trump campaign to “revisit its decision instead of making punitive decisions because we wrote something critical of him”.
