Trump campaign manager: Ads starting, debate prep this weekend
With his new leadership team promising a sharper message, Donald Trump on Thursday moved to invest almost $5 million in battleground state advertising. “It’s safe to say that the takeover of the Republican presidential campaign by the purveyor of a lunatic right-wing website signals a doubling down on the kind of anti-Clinton pseudo scandals and conspiracy theories that are red meat for the base already supporting Trump but will do nothing to move other voters unless it backfires with them”, Brock said in an e-mail, predicting “another round of unfounded attacks” against the Clinton Foundation by Trump.
The addition of Bannon came in the same week reports surfaced disgraced Fox News executive Roger Ailes is serving as an informal debate adviser to Trump.
Campaign Manager Kellyanne Conway (L) and Paul Manafort, staff of Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, speak during a round table discussion on security at Trump Tower in the Manhattan borough of NY, U.S., August 17, 2016.
Manafort himself said it was an “exciting day for Team Trump” in an emailed memo to the campaign staff that was provided to CNN by a campaign source.
Making her job more hard, however, Trump admits he doesn’t like to be told he can’t do or say something. Breitbart frequently parrots his talking points and publishes articles with headlines like “Politico ” s Army of Democrats Driving Anti-Trump Narrative” and “Exclusive: Donald J. Trump: Hillary Clinton’s Plans for More Illegal Immigration Into America a “Disaster for Our Country'”.
“August is not October, let alone November”, she said.
“So it will no longer be $102 million for Hillary Clinton and her super PACs versus zero for us”, she told CNN’s Alisyn Camerota on “New Day” during a wide-ranging interview.
Conway is skilled at presenting complex data in a way that’s easily digestible, said GOP strategist Phil Musser, who is familiar with her work on state and congressional races.
There will be a redirection to Trump’s primary campaign glory, with huge rallies, a dominant day-and-night media presence and lesser rhetorical refinements.
Caputo wasn’t alone in blaming Manafort’s obvious misfortunes on the former campaign manager, however. Trump attended his first classified briefing, meeting with national security officials for more than two hours with career staffers from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, who were expected to cover major threats and emerging concerns around the world.
His name is Steve Bannon, and he’s the new man in charge of the Don’s political campaign.
Bauer said Conway will understand that “there’s only one alpha dog” when Trump is in the room.
Manafort has spent months trying to ingratiate Trump to Republican lawmakers who have urged the billionaire businessman to dial back his fiery rhetoric and run a more traditional campaign. It’s me. I don’t want to change. I want to be me.
She praised him as a “highly effective, brilliant tactician who gets things done”. “Bannon is to tell Trump what Trump wants to hear”. This reliably resulted in speculation that perhaps we were about to see a whole new Trump.
Trump’s campaign advisers have sought to refocus him, including through a pair of scripted policy speeches on the economy and terrorism that offered a stark contrast to Trump’s freewheeling style.
“I think he will be very happy with the choice”, she said.
The source noted that Lewandowski had issued a similar campaign memo when Manafort was hired in a volunteer capacity with the campaign.
