Trump campaign shakes up leadership in latest sign of tumult
Breitbart News Executive Chairman Stephen Bannon has been appointed the CEO of the Trump campaign, which is a new position created to bring a business approach.
Time will tell if this shakeup will help or hurt the Trump campaign.
Bannon and Conway present other advantages to the Trump campaign.
Trump and running mate Indiana Gov. Mike Pence plan to visit the state later Friday, CBS News reported.
“I’ve known both of them for a long time”, Trump said.
Ukrainian ties The Associated Press raised further questions about the ties between Mr Trump’s team and the former pro-Kremlin Ukrainian regime, reporting yesterday that Mr Manafort and another Trump aide, Rick Gates, had failed to disclose their efforts at influencing U.S. policy on behalf of Mr Yanukovych’s then governing party.
The Washington Post reported recently that Page, “a little-known adviser” to Trump, offered “effusive praise” for Putin while speaking to Washington foreign policy experts in June and criticized USA policy while speaking in Moscow.
Campaign chairman Paul Manafort resigned from Donald Trump’s team Friday, less than a week after the candidate reshuffled his staff and amid news reports about Manafort’s past political activity for pro-Russian elements in Ukraine.
The Trump campaign has also said that the first major television ad buy of the general election will start later this week, as well as a recently-appointed commission on agriculture – which includes former presidential candidate Rick Perry.
Wednesday morning, he announced campaign chairman Paul Manafort would be stepping down from his duties as campaign manager-a role he held temporarily after Corey Lewandowski was fired-to make room for longtime Republican campaign strategist Kellyanne Conway.
Trump said in an interview with The Wall Street Journal Tuesday night, “I want to win”.
“I am very appreciative for his great work in helping to get us where we are today, and in particular his work guiding us through the delegate and convention process”, Mr Trump said.
While polls have shown Clinton building a lead following last month’s convention, Democrats fear that a depressed voter turnout might diminish support among the minority, young and female voters who powered Obama to two victories.
On Wednesday, she argued that Trump has already done that and there’s little chance he will change his ways before November. The Republican languishes behind her in virtually every key battleground state, raising the prospect of a Clinton landslide win.
