Trump claims ‘millions voted illegally’ cost him popular vote
For Greenberg, the Democratic pollster who helped engineer Bill Clinton’s presidential victory in 1992, Hillary Clinton’s loss in these Rust Belt states took him full circle back to Macomb County, Michigan, where his groundbreaking research on voters dubbed Reagan Democrats set the stage for Clinton’s White House win after 16 years of Republican rule.
Clinton lost the Electoral College by more than 70 votes, but leads Trump in the popular vote by about 2 million ballots. Clinton leads the national popular vote by close to 2 million votes, but Trump won 290 electoral votes to Clinton’s 232, not counting MI.
However, Trump has no evidence that millions voted illegally. Under such a law, college students would likely still be able to vote if they could prove residency, perhaps by obtaining driver’s licenses. They showed more of the open podium waiting for Donald Trump than ever playing your speeches. “Your reputation is awesome”.
But Sanders also said that, by the end of the campaign, “Trump was posing as a hero of the working class of America”.
“If you lined up people from all political angles, they would agree that we in the country have a lot of room to grow on that, and that voters and election officials would be better off if we made common-sense reforms to voter registration”, said Myrna Pérez, leader of the Voting Rights and Elections project at the Brennan Center for Justice.
President-elect Donald Trump won the Badger State 47.9 percent to Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton’s 46.9 percent. Nearly certainly not; as the Clinton campaign’s general counsel noted, Trump’s margin of victory in MI far exceeds the largest margin ever changed in a recount, and in order for Clinton to get to more than 270 Electoral College votes the recounts would have to erase not only Trump’s margin in MI but his much larger margins of victory in Wisconsin and Pennsylvania, as well.
Green Party nominee Jill Stein received 51,463 votes in MI and has signaled she plans to ask the Board of State Canvassers for a recount.
In 2012, President Obama won 51 percent of the popular vote and 332 Electoral College votes.
While insisting she would respect President-elect Donald Trump’s decision, whatever it may be, top Trump aide Kellyanne Conway on Sunday made clear in an interview with CNN she does not approve of Mitt Romney as a possible choice for secretary of state. Stein herself told NPR that she does not expect the outcome to change.
Trump, a Republican, said on Twitter Sunday the media isn’t reporting on election fraud in New Hampshire, Virginia and California.
Trump was mostly silent on the brewing recount effort until it became known that Clinton would join it, at least in Wisconsin.
Meanwhile, a group backed by Stein wants a Pennsylvania court to order a recount of the state’s presidential election result. Why not shenanigans instigated by Russian Federation, which experts say aided Trump during the campaign with fake-news propaganda? No evidence has emerged to support those claims. It’s expected to start at some point this week. “But two-this is what is scary about it-when he says that, he’s really sending a signal to Republican [leaders] all over the country”.
Hillary Clinton’s Democratic rival in the primary campaign for her party’s nomination for president is OK with her team joining an effort for a recount of the 2016 election.
Now, her campaign is participating in the recount process.
The deadline to formally request a recount in Pennsylvania, where Trump had his biggest margin of victory of the three states in question, is Monday. It’s the last state to officially certify its election results and comes almost three weeks after Election Day.
