Trump Claims Popular Vote Win, Says Millions Voted Illegally
Trump is now losing the popular vote by over 2 million to Hillary Clinton, the person who is not about to be inaugurated as the 45th president of the United States.
Trump said and did some of the most outrageous things during primary season and the general campaign – things that would have ended a lesser candidate, such as feuding with his own party and claiming to have grabbed women “by the p***y” against their will in “bawdy locker room talk” with former Access Hollywood host Billy Bush.
Of course, Donald Trump had something to say about this situation, claiming that it is “just a way for Jill Stein, who received less than one flawless of the vote overall and wasn’t even on the ballot in many states, to fill her coffers with money”. It is also extremely unlikely that Trump will provide, or be able to provide, any credible evidence for his claim that more than 2.2 million Clinton voters voted illegally.
Trump’s top aide Kellyanne Conway, in the middle of the turbulence, appeared Sunday to at least hint that if the Clinton team pushes too hard on the Wisconsin recount, the president-elect might rethink his vow not to seek Clinton’s prosecution for using a private email server when she was secretary of state.
And Scott Hagerstrom, director of Trump’s campaign in MI, also asked supporters in an email to continue their volunteer work and help by observing recounts across the state.
The main thrust of Trump’s tweets consists of a quote from Hillary Clinton herself from the final debate between the two candidates before Election Day.
Wednesday, Elections Commission staff will hold a teleconference in the morning for all county clerks and canvass members to outline the process and rules of a recount. “Our lawyers have made courtesy calls to the Clinton, Johnson + Trump campaigns” and called for “automatic mandatory recounts to verify every election result” as well as a national holiday for election day.
And that is why Trump is now openly freaking out on Twitter, as many of us predicted he would – just not this soon. We owe him an open mind and the chance to lead.’ So much time and money will be spent – same result! Trump said in another tweet.
Clinton conceded the race to Trump in the early morning hours of November 9 and gave a speech later that day declaring, “Donald Trump is going to be our president”.
Stein, who won about 1 percent of the national vote, has said she wants a recount to guarantee the integrity of the USA voting system, a push that came after some experts raised the possibility that hacks could have affected the results. Stein was inspired in her efforts in part because of surprising results in three traditionally blue, Rust Belt states: Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin. Those states had voted Democratic in recent presidential elections but all broke narrowly for the Republican Trump in this month’s election.
Trump has been railing over the weekend against a recount effort led by the Green Party, that he has dubbed a “scam”.
Mr. Trump’s team also pointed out the irony of Mrs. Clinton’s repeated bashing of her opponent on the campaign trail for refusing to say whether he would accept the election results and now contesting the outcome herself.
