Trump, Cruz, Campaign in N.H
Prominent conservative writer and talk show host Mark Levin is scolding Donald Trump for unleashing a furious Twitter attack on Ted Cruz, a notable rebuke from a wing of the Republican Party that Trump needs in order to capture the Iowa caucuses. This being said, Trump pointed out that Cruz isn’t a “natural-born Citizen” which is one of the qualifications needed to run for office.
“None of them were anywhere to be found. They didn’t stand up and fight to defend the Second Amendment”, Cruz said. So I’ve got a very simple question for the folks here: “How do we not get burned again?” It’s not a good thing for the country.
The Cruz campaign hit Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump with two reminder video clips of the NY billionaire complimenting Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.
The volleying over “New York values”, the details over Cruz’s loans and the focus on Cruz’s birthplace, she said, is just “Trump being colorful….” “So he raises money in NY and then criticizes NY values”.
“There’s a big move to move you to the middle of the pack, that’s not going to happen, if I win, not going to happen”, Trump said.
Trump said Sunday that Cruz is a “nasty guy”, who pretended to like him early in the race and is now critical.
Trump, however, Saturday accused Cruz of purposely withholding information on the loans.
And Cruz’s first New Hampshire crowd appeared eager to hear needling of Trump, hollering in approval during the few times Cruz or fellow audience members ribbed him.
The Texas senator and the real estate mogul, both near the top of the pack vying for the Republican nomination, have been at odds since they clashed in a debate last Thursday, with Cruz assailing Trump for embodying “New York values” and Trump coming to the city’s defense.
One of Donald Trump’s main rivals has attacked him… for not wanting to ban gay people from the military.
“When the World Trade Center came down”, he said, “I saw something that no place on Earth could have handled more beautifully, more humanely than NY”.
But Cruz said he believes the campaign is entering a “different phase”, where voters will take a closer look at candidates’ records – particularly Trump’s.
Cruz questioned whether Trump is a true conservative, noting donations he’s made to Democrats over the years, including $50,000 in 2010 to Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, the former chief of staff to President Barack Obama.
“Donald seems to be a little rattled”, Cruz told reporters before a town hall in Washington, New Hampshire on Monday.
