Trump DC hotel attracting foreign envoys and controversy

President-elect Donald Trump fired another warning shot Sunday at USA companies considering moving their operations out of the country, threatening “retributions or consequences” such as a hefty border tax if they do.

The Obama administration took a lot of flak for helping some green industries when one failed spectacularly, but most of the companies in the program thrived and created thousands of jobs.

House Majority leader Kevin McCarthy also distanced himself from Trump’s desire to penalize companies that move overseas, telling members of the media that “I don’t want to get into some kind of trade war”. Some of the petitions are for workers whose jobs or hours have been cut because of cheaper imports, but most are for workers at firms shifting production overseas.
