Trump decided to sack McMaster, says report
He plans to stay in the job as long as the president wants him serve, he has said.
McMaster, in turn, is not a natural fit for the scattershot policy-making process in the White House and dislikes the internal rivalries that so often divide the West Wing.
March 16, 2018 Over this past week, President Donald Trump and the White House have planned to endorse multiple bills that will increase school safety. One source said McMaster’s departure could come as soon as Friday, while others said that is unlikely. Whether the National Security Advisor will remain in place is to be seen.
However, those familiar with the President’s thinking don’t believe McMaster’s job is any safer now.
It’s a question that has the whole White House on edge.
McMaster on Thursday documented a strong speech on Syria.
“General McMaster is a dedicated public servant, and he is here focused. on some really big issues – things like North Korea, things like Russian Federation, things like Iran”, she said.
Still, Sanders said the president should be and is free to make decisions and changes as needed.
All of the shakeups in the White House could be exactly what Trump wants, judging by comments he made yesterday.
White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders told the Journal in a statement that “Kelly is not going anywhere”.
Last night’s Post report portrays Trump in his element as he assembles a cabinet totally dominated by the military-intelligence apparatus. The adviser was “within the blast radius” of the president’s not-infrequent anger, a senior national security official said, because McMaster saw Trump almost every day. “Remember the Dirty Dossier, Uranium, Speeches, Emails and the Podesta Company!”
The president has indicated that the shakeup in his administration may not be over. Amid speculation about McMaster’s fate, CNN has reported that the three-star general has been in discussions with the Hoover Institution.
He has also been undercut by others in Trump’s orbit like former chief strategist Steve Bannon, according to congressional and administration officials. Vox wrote that Bolton “seems poised to become President Donald Trump’s next national security adviser, which would have significant-and frightening-implications for the future of Trump’s foreign policy”. “But right now this atmosphere is ripping people apart”, a White House official told Axios on Wednesday.
Lu said that Beijing had sent formal protests to Washington asking them to avoid formal contacts with Taiwan in order not to adversely affect relations and cooperation between the United States and China. “He asked me to pass that message along to Gen. McMaster”.
Any delay in the move is also because McMaster is trying to nail down his next steps, one of the sources said. This came up more than two weeks after Trump told lawmakers that the National Rifle Association has “great power over you people, they have less power over me”.
A second defense official said McMaster is well aware of those political sensitivities.
Reince Priebus, the bland former chairman of the Republican National Committee, was supposed to manage the White House workflow and control the door to Trump’s office.
