Trump Declared Winner of Presidential Vote in MI
Katie Kelly, the MI head for Hillary for America, sent out an email on Wednesday asking for volunteers to help oversee the recount, which was spurred by Green Party candidate Jill Stein.
Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein is suing the Wisconsin Elections Commission for refusing to require county officials to recount votes by hand.
Some counties such as Kenosha and Dane Counties will count by hand, Milwaukee County will likely use counting machines.
The decision came Tuesday after Stein filed a lawsuit that failed Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s campaign later joined.
The same board officially announced that Donald Trump had won the state’s 16 electoral college votes – by 10,704 votes – on Monday after the result had been too close to call for nearly three weeks.
Combined with the fact that 18 percent of voters in one poll do not view this presidential election’s results as legitimate, Stein says, voters can not be asked to trust computerized recount systems. However, the Elections Commission rejected the request for a hand count, instead allowing local election officials the authority to check by hand or with tabulation machines. But it would not say whether it would file a legal challenge to stop one if Stein follows through on her pledge.
County Republican Party Chair Dennis Armstrong has sent out an email requesting volunteers who he said will be needed daily from 8:30 a.m.until 7:00 p.m. “The FEC complaint is nothing but a PR stunt to push a false narrative that will ultimately have no impact on the recount in Wisconsin”. She says “cyber hacking” affected the vote outcomes in those states.
You’d think that the Clinton camp would be jumping up and down at the idea of a vote audit, but her campaign has already indicated they don’t believe a recount will change the election results.
At a meeting earlier today, the Commission directed staff to assess the full estimated recount fee to both petitioning candidates unless the candidates each submit payment for one-half of the total estimated cost. The recount will begin Thursday and must be completed by December 13.
De La Fuente said Tuesday that continuing to pursue the effort would be “cost prohibitive”, so he has chose to withdraw his petition.
