Trump denies inquiry about security clearance for kids
So far, about 200 people associated with the Trump transition already hold top secret clearances or have in the past five years, the official said.
But don’t think that’s going to stop them from being active participants in US government decision-making, or using the fact that Trump is president to keep money flowing in.
Jared Kushner was one of the most important players in Trump campaign and he is going to play the part with even more veracity once Trump actually gets into the White House.
A senior intelligence official told NBC News that there has never been a requirement for the First Lady or children in residence at the White House to have any sort of security clearance. He is also married to Trump’s influential daughter Ivanka, and is in line to be arguably the most powerful son-in-law to ever set foot in the White House.
Pence takes reins as Trump’s transition team is shuffled. “It is a huge problem”, Trump said. Kushner serves on Trump’s transition executive committee.
Kushner, like Trump, attended an Ivy League school, grew his father’s real estate business and expanded his own net worth exponentially.
Jared Kushner can not be in the Cabinet of his father-in-law, President-elect Donald Trump.
He reportedly hired a Texan online marketing specialist named Brad Parscale, and built a highly efficient team tasked with mobilizing Trump supporters, and discouraging potential backers of Democrat Hillary Clinton.
Such clearance would allow Mr Trump to discuss matters of national security with his daughter, Ivanka, sons Eric and Donald Jr. and son-in-law Jared Kushner. She is the only child from Trump’s second marriage to Marla Maples. “But I actually think he likes politics more than he likes real estate”, Trump said during an IN party following primary election win IN May.
Mr Trump denied that he had requested security clearances for his children, in order to recruit them as advisers. “No paperwork has been completed or sent in or submitted to this effect”.
A Trump transition spokesperson did not immediately respond to a request for comment about Kushner’s formal or informal role in the coming administration. He advised Trump on a host of issues, including his selection of a running mate, which led The New York Times to describe him as Trump’s “de facto campaign manager”.
The email also had a photo of Ivanka Trump wearing the bangle as she sat with her father and siblings for the family’s first television interview since Donald Trump’s Presidential win.
