Trump Disinvited From Conservative Forum in Atlanta
The businessman got a bit of a grilling from Fox journalist Megyn Kelly during the first Republican presidential debate and appeared to try and pin it on her time of the month.
Hannity asked if Trump’s behavior would change for the campaign.
Trump said Kelly “bombed” at the debate and retweeted a follower who called her a “bimbo”. Another candidate, Senator Lindsey Graham, applauded Erickson for revoking Trump’s invitation and said, “Enough already with Mr. Trump”. “It just was wrong”, he said. The comment was taken by most people as misogynist remark intended to imply that Kelly was bitchy because she was hormonal due to her period.
Trump was unbowed by the dumping.
At the time Trump responded by saying that the United States is too focused on politically correct language.
He added: “Due to Donald Trump’s unrelenting and offensive attack on Megyn Kelly and others, we are at a crossroads with Mr. Trump”.
By the way, the guy (Erick Erickson) who made the decision about RedState called Supreme Court Justice David Souter a “goat [expletive] child molester” and First Lady Michelle Obama a “Marxist Harpy”.
Trump also badgered Kelly at the end of his response, telling her that if she didn’t like his history with women, “I’m sorry”. That description deviated from the telephone interview that aired.
Trump had bragged that he could buy politicians, including those on the stage with him.
Perry said he was also glad to see former Hewlett Packard CEO and fellow Texan Carly Fiorina getting into the presidential race. “Now I’m here running for president”.
The off-handed comment unleashed a new storm of criticism of Trump and put him in spin control mode as he sought to nuance his remark. Trump, Twitchy said, was scheduled to speak at the gathering Saturday evening. “Blood coming out of her wherever”, he told Don Lemon.
To kick things off, Kelly challenged Trump on his past offensive comments toward women.
If there was anything close to a consensus among activists at the event, it was that they still wanted to hear what Trump had to say. “If someone is going to fall on their face, let them do it for everyone to see”. “These are the people I don’t ever want at a RedState event”.
Without mentioning Trump’s name, Jeb Bush made reference to him when he spoke to RedState.
But as his latest eruption rippled through Republican circles, the conversation turned to whether the party, and his rival presidential contenders, should continue to accommodate his candidacy, quietly hoping that this would be the moment he burned out – or whether they should try to run him out on a rail.
