Trump endorses Ryan, McCain and Ayotte

In recent weeks, Trump has angered fellow Republicans by criticizing parents of a soldier killed in Iraq and refusing to endorse House Speaker Paul Ryan and others for re-election.

Trump’s endorsement of Ryan would come at an 8 p.m. ET rally in Green Bay, Wisconsin, two sources said. If I endorse him, I’ll get credit for being a team player at a moment when the party is struggling to unify and I’ll get to say, implausibly or not, that it was my endorsement that contributed to Ryan’s huge win after it happens. The timing is unusual. But Vos, too, was skipping the Trump rally on Friday.

“Once he’s elected president, Donald Trump will need a strong partner in the U.S. Senate to Make America Great Again, and that partner is not John McCain, the ultimate establishment insider and Hillary’s favorite Republican, who has repeatedly trashed Trump and his supporters on issue after issue”.

Ryan will face his underdog challenger Paul Nehlen in Wisconsin primary on Tuesday.

“I always wanted to get the Purple Heart”, said Trump.

Walker’s eventual endorsement of Trump was a tepid one, and after Trump withheld his endorsement of Ryan, Walker immediately tweeted that he stood with Ryan.

Ryan said he “rejects” any religious test for entering the country – a clear jab at one of Trump’s evolving immigration proposals – and that “Captain Khan was one such fearless example” of Muslim-Americans who have “served valiantly in our military and made the ultimate sacrifice. So you know I’m just going to rise above this stuff, and I’m not going to get involved in some sort of petty back and forth, I see no goal in doing that”.

And in New Hampshire, Clinton shot ahead to a comfortable 17-point lead, 51 percent to 34 percent, according to a WBUR poll.

The reversal came after Ryan strongly attacked Trump’s performance on Thursday, three months before Americans choose between Trump and Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.

Walker also made it clear he’s not with Trump on his comments about the Khans. He also has to stick to his own principles while not appearing to be trying to undermine the man who chose him as his No. 2.

“I want to offer some good news”, Kaine said in the video.

Trump stood firm, even as some Republicans openly vowed to vote for Clinton. “I love babies”, he said.

Clinton sought to take advantage of Trump’s dip in the polls at a conference of minority journalists in Washington, where she pledged an all-out fight for comprehensive immigration reform. “We are Ryan Republicans here in Wisconsin, not Trump Republicans”.

Clinton conceded that she had “short-circuited” earlier in the week in interviews when she had asserted that Federal Bureau of Investigation director James Comey had concluded that she had been truthful in her statements about use of the private server.

“I may have short-circuited and for that I will try to clarify”, Clinton said, though still insisting she “never sent or received anything that was marked classified”.
