Trump gets backing of two governors ahead of multi-state vote
The weirdest thing about this to me is that I saw Christie coming from that class of Republican governors who proposed to bring both a record of achievement with conservative governance and real executive experience. “Donald Trump is unfit to be president”, Meg Whitman, chief executive officer of Hewlett-Packard, said in a statement. A Cruz spokesperson told the Associated Press that they are still planning to release the returns.
Trump has faced heavy pressure from his GOP critics to release tax returns this week, after former GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney warned the documents could contain a “bombshell”. “Maybe his tax returns show that those business dealings are a lot more extensive than reported”.
“I watched this lightweight Rubio, total lightweight, little mouth on him, “bing, bing, bing”… and his new attack is he calls me a con artist”, Trump said.
While Rubio has attempted to position himself as an alternative to Trump – scoring a series of shots at the GOP front-runner during the party’s 10th debate in Houston on Thursday – he placed a distant second in Tuesday’s Nevada caucuses, second in SC, fifth in New Hampshire and third in Iowa.
Cruz’s reaction: ‘Well listen, this decision is going to be made by the voters on Super Tuesday.
The Georgia poll was conducted February 18-23 and reached 543 likely Republican voters, with a margin of error of plus-minus 4.2 percentage points, and 461 likely Democratic voters, with a margin of error of 4.6 percentage points. Polls have returned varied results, with some surveys showing Trump and Cruz in a tight race in Texas while others show Cruz with a comfortable lead.
“He’s attacking Trump on the same disclosure issues, but his own disclosures are obfuscatory”, Shenkman said.
Cruz has said numerous times over the past week he has been focusing on Texas in the lead-up to Super Tuesday, calling it the “crown jewel” of the major voting day. “And he’s going to have the passion to do it”, Ms Haley said, referring to the strong verbal dual unleashed by Mr Rubio over the last few days against Mr Trump.
Guardian contributor Chris R. Barron doesn’t think Christie has any animosity toward Marco Rubio, whose moment in the spotlight after Thursday’s Republican debate was summarily ended by Christie’s endorsement.
