Trump has not spoken to Federal Bureau of Investigation director about wiretapping claims, Spicer says
His reference to “the fact that President Obama was tapping my phones in October” is definitive and, if false, orders of magnitude more scurrilous and defamatory than the lies about Obama’s place of birth upon which Trump built his political career. “It’s a tool of an authoritarian”.

Whatever Obama’s precise degree of culpability and Trump’s accuracy in leveling allegations, one might think Obama would be legally vulnerable enough so that he wouldn’t want to make waves.
NBC News reported that Obama had an even lighter reaction – he simply rolled his eyes. The White House also did not respond to a request to elaborate on Trump’s accusations.
Additionally, an Obama spokesman has categorically denied that the Obama White House ordered any wiretapping.
He was “almost 100 percent certain” Trump had not spoken to Comey since the Republican president made the allegation on Twitter on Saturday. Often, they lean on sympathetic media to help with that task. The allegation has been denied by Obama’s spokesperson.

This does not necessarily mean the FBI or anyone else was “wiretapping” Trump Towers, but we have yet to find out the extent of its investigation and whether, for example, the FBI discovered additional ties between Trump associates and Kremlin allies.
