Trump knocks Dems for not mentioning ISIS at convention

Donald Trump did not appear to get a bounce out of the Republican convention in Cleveland, according to a new NBC News|SurveyMonkey poll that has him virtually tied with Hillary Clinton. “And believe me folks, she is crooked”. And if there are any little girls out there who stayed up late to watch, let me just say: “I may become the first woman president but one of you is next”, Clinton said via satellite.
Getting the most recent attention: Two polls that included polling conducted on Tuesday, July 26, especially a Reuters/Ipso poll released July 26.
An abundance of historical evidence, however, suggests that Clinton is likely to see a bump by this time next week that could negate Trump’s appearance of momentum. However, the numbers are within the poll’s credibility interval, meaning that the candidates are about even in support.
The survey data comes as headliners of the Democratic National Convention attempt to convince the American people that Clinton is the best candidate for the presidency.
Donald Trump now has a large lead on Hillary Clinton when it comes to honesty and trustworthiness. It’s a tracking poll, which means it’s reflects a rolling average of several days rather than a snapshot in time. Though she never mentioned her counterpart by name, the former secretary of state knocked Trump for his “praise for dictators and strongmen who have no love for America”. However, the gap has been narrowing there too.
That gives most of the influence to a handful of swing states, such as OH and Pennsylvania – which, not coincidentally, are the sites of the Republican and Democratic national conventions.
In early May, Mr Trump briefly pulled even with Mrs Clinton after his remaining rivals for the party nomination dropped out of the running.

When Americans were asked what comes to mind when they think of Clinton, 27 percent said they did not trust her, 13 percent said they did not like her and eight percent said she is a “criminal” or “corrupt”. That dynamic is also gathering the attention of odds makers. The same poll showed Trump’s unfavorable number at 64%.
Presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton spoke at the VFW Convention the day before Trump with a vastly different tone, saying deploying troops overseas should be “a last resort”. It is not to be confused with polls from real voters. Its margin of error is 4.4 percentage points.
Mrs Clinton last week held a three-point lead, which was also within the credibility interval. Mitt Romney didn’t get the boost he expected four years ago after his Republican Convention.
In North Carolina, Trump dismissed suggestions that the Russians may be trying to influence the election in his favour because of his relatively friendly approach to the country’s president, Vladimir Putin.
