Trump leads Iowa in CNN 2016 poll, Christie 10th

Trump has shifted his views on abortion rights, and on Monday said he would look into the “good aspects” of Planned Parenthood before deciding on taxpayer funding, prompting criticism from conservatives. The poll of 544 likely caucus goers was taken august 7-11 and had a margin of error of 4 percentage points.

CNN’s poll was the first time since January, however, that Walker did not poll in double digits.

The National Women’s Political Caucus notes that women have outnumbered men in presidential elections since the 1960s.

Paradoxically, media attention to Trump’s comments about Kelly may be helping him shore up support. At the beginning of this month, on the eve of the debate, Walker was in the lead at 20.5 in the RCP average; now he’s in second place at 14.8.

But Trump’s advantages are not universal. Gross says Walker created high expectations for his candidacy in January with a widely lauded showing at the Iowa Freedom Summit. His campaign has said it plans to unveil new policy plans soon. Before Trump exploded onto the scene, Walker was even placing first in some Iowa polls.

The exchange set the tone for the night for Trump, and he never really seemed to recover.
