Trump makes first campaign stop in Michigan, at Saginaw, Genesee Co. fundraiser
The event is a fundraiser for the Saginaw and Genesee County Republican Parties.
– Donald Trump, the hottest commodity in the Republican race for the presidential nomination right now, is expected in Michigan this afternoon with his populist message and often acerbic rhetoric.
“I just want to voice my concern about Donald Trump, especially when it comes to immigrants and obviously women too”, said Julie Haefner, a history student at Central Michigan University in Mt. Pleasant.
Democrats, veterans and Latino groups plan to protest outside of Trump’s speech.
He said Trump made some comments recently that have offended people, but that all the candidates will make mistakes before the election.
Trump is expected to speak at the Birch Run Expo Center around 7 p.m. By around 4 p.m., attendees were already lining up outside the venue, as were protesters.
