Trump met with Russian ambassador before vote
Some of the leaks in the Trump administration have been trivial, such as anecdotes depicting aides stumbling around in the dark, or about Trump being concerned with how his press secretary, Sean Spicer, dressed.
Someone who knows the Russians well is former U.S. Ambassador to Russia Michael McFaul, who served under Obama.
“I spoke to Putin twice”.
“In the Newsmax piece, Trump states, “.and I’ve had a sort of a semi-nice relationship with Putin”.
But it’s not just Democrats keeping a close eye on the Russian Federation controversy.
USA media reported that advisors JD Gordon and Carter Page met Kislyak and, separately, that Flynn and Trump’s son-in-law and senior White House aide Jared Kushner met Kislyak at Trump Tower in NY last December.
The Trump campaign has denied it worked with the Russians to influence the election, particularly in leaking information on the president’s challenger, Democrat Hillary Clinton. J. D. Gordon, who supervised Page on the campaign’s National Security Advisory Committee, told Politico that he strongly urged Page against going to Moscow for a July 7 speech. During his senate confirmation hearing in January, Sessions claimed to have no contact with the Russians.
A few minutes before he made those remarks, Mr. Trump met at a VIP reception with Russia’s ambassador to the U.S., Sergey Ivanovich Kislyak.
Sessions can not confirm the investigation he recused himself from exists or will exist in the future. Only one-third of all respondents believe that Congress is capable of handling any investigation.
Sessions met with the Russian ambassador during the time Sessions was serving as a surrogate for the Trump campaign, but not in his capacity as a surrogate for the Trump campaign. He’s grown increasingly angry over a stream of stories suggesting otherwise, including revelations last week that Attorney General Jeff Sessions met with Russia’s ambassador to the USA during the campaign.
The percentage of Americans who believe Russian involvement influenced the results of last year’s U.S. presidential election has grown sizably, according to a new national poll.
But following an election in which United States intelligence alleged Moscow tried to aid Trump, Kislyak’s contacts have come under intense scrutiny. So far McCain’s opposition to Trump has been more talk than action, however.
But the White House has come under renewed scrutiny over ties between campaign officials and Russian Federation.
Last month, former national security adviser Mike Flynn resigned after it was revealed he misled senior administration officials, including Vice President Mike Pence, about the content of his conversations with Kislyak. Just last month Flynn was forced to step down because of his communication with Russian Federation, and miscommunication with Vice President Pence regarding this matter.
He maintained that the meetings were in the capacity as Senator and not related to the Trump campaign. “I have nothing to do with Russian Federation”.
The idea that the president’s choice to be USA attorney general, the nation’s top law enforcement official, would lie under oath to the Senate committee considering his nomination – people who were his colleagues as senators for 20 years – is stunning and possibly a sign of just how far down the standard of ethics in Washington has descended. Except when he isn’t. This has been a public service announcement.
