Trump on rally protester: ‘Maybe he should have been roughed up’
Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump holds up a campaign button after speaking at a campaign stop Saturday, November 21, 2015, in Birmingham, Ala.
CNN political reporter Jeremy Diamond posted a video on his Twitter account this afternoon of a black protestor being “shoved, tackled, punched & kicked” at a Donald Trump rally in Birmingham, Alabama. The Journal reports “the sense of urgency has mounted in part because Mr. Trump continues at or near the top of GOP polls, even after many predicted that the Paris terror attacks would lead voters to turn to a more seasoned candidate”.
“I’m going to have to see what happens”.
With those figures behind him, Trump can argue that he’s tapping into a few very real frustrations that grassroots members of the Republican party have with the other candidates, and that they’re listening with intent to what he has to say. “The Trojan horse. I want know who the hell they are”.
That was a change in tone from just a month ago, when Trump would regularly tell his audiences not to harm the protesters who often infiltrate his rallies. “All I want to do is (have) a level playing field”. “When I did this, I said I have to be treated fairly”.
“I don’t want to close up mosques, but things have to happen where – you have got to use strong measures you’re going to see buildings coming down all over NY City and elsewhere”, he said.
And Trump said he would bring back waterboarding, an interrogation tactic that he said “is peanuts compared to what they’re doing to us”. “And I don’t want them coming in”. “I had 10,000 people in the room yesterday, 10,000 people, and this guy started screaming by himself”.
