Trump Orders Protester Coats Confiscated: ‘Throw Them Out into the Cold’
Chaos erupted at a campaign rally for Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump in Vermont on Thursday, as protesters repeatedly interrupted the GOP front-runner and clashed with his supporters both inside and outside of the event.
In the wake of gun control reforms, Trump wrapped up his Thursday night campaign rally in Burlington, Vermont, by stating that he would end gun-free zones in schools and USA military bases.
More than 20,000 tickets were distributed for free to the Burlington event in the Flynn Center for the Performing Arts, which has only 1,400 seats, according to police, raising concerns about potential clashes.
Local police said even people with tickets in hand will be turned away once the theater is full and were expecting major gridlock across the city as the event gets underway.
“I figured that most Trump supporters probably never met a Muslim so I figured that I’d give them the opportunity to meet one”, she said, wearing a shirt that read “Salam, I come in peace”.
“Don’t give them their coats”, Trump added.
Vermont may be Bernie Sanders country, but Donald Trump found plenty of support – and some vocal opposition – from a rowdy and raucous crowd during his first campaign visit to the Green Mountain State. “You know it’s about 10 degrees below zero outside”, roared Trump from the stage. No, you can keep his coat. “Tell him we’ll send it to him in a couple of weeks”.
Police monitor protesters outside Thursday’s Donald Trump campaign event in Burlington, Vt. Until more people get to understand what Trump is about, and by the way, I don’t say this thing lightly, I think he is a pathological liar.
Parson and Benjamin have posted videos online proclaiming their support for Trump. After going through most of his stump speech, he tested the crowd’s sympathies.
Trump’s rally Burlington, Vermont Thursday was met with some opposition.
Trump touched on health care, the Iranian nuclear agreement, immigration, taxes and guns, among other topics, speaking conversationally and engaging the the crowd.
Trump has previously denounced gun-free zones, and has said that armed teachers could help prevent mass shootings. And on military bases, my first day, it gets signed. OK?
While ejecting people who try to shout down candidates is nothing new, pre-primary rallies are typically chances not only for supporters to cheer the candidate, but for undecideds to hear a contender’s pitch. “I would hope you would agree with that”, said President Obama.
It was often hard to understand what the protesters were shouting, as they were quickly drowned out by Trump’s supporters. And as President Obama seeks to rally support for his executive orders on guns, Trump made it clear he’d undo those, and institute some of his own. “My first day. There’s no more gun-free zones”, said Trump. “I would love, love, love to run against Donald Trump”. “I promise… I tell you what, that was so embarrassing to watch that”.
“Where he comes up with these ideas, I have no idea, ” Sanders said.
