Trump plans to endorse Ryan
“I need a Republican Senate and a House to accomplish all the changes we have to make”, added Trump, who also said “my 80 percent friend is not my 20 percent enemy”, a phrase often attributed to Ronald Reagan.
Wisconsin House Speaker Robin Vos, in an op-ed published on a conservative website Friday, said he was “heartbroken” over Trump’s decision to voice support for Ryan’s primary opponent, Paul Nehlen, in a tweet.
Trump’s endorsement comes after a protracted battle between himself and Ryan, which began when the Speaker refused to endorse the GOP nominee in May.
Earlier this week, Trump told the Washington Post, “I don’t know Kelly Ayotte. And very importantly, toward real change”, Trump said. “We need that. Arm in arm, we will rescue the nation from the Obama-Clinton disaster that has bled our country dry and has spread terrorism unabated across the world”.
“I may have short circuited and for that I will try to clarify”, Clinton said, though still insisting she “never sent or received anything that was marked classified”. “I’m not quite there yet”, Trump said at the time.
Speaking in an interview on CBS This Morning on Thursday, Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort said there was “no issue” about Trump’s current position on Ryan.
Democrats – and some furious Republicans – seized on the comments to highlight how Trump had invited a foreign power to conduct espionage against the United States. “There will be sections he will win because people are angry, frustrated and haven’t heard any answers”, Kasich said on CNN’s “State of the Union”.
Ryan then warned Trump during a radio interview that his support was not a blank check. After all that Paul Ryan has done for the Donald?
Ever since Mr Trump descended that golden escalator to announce his candidacy last July, his campaign has been a roller-coaster ride for the Republican establishment, alternating between reluctant acceptance and sky-is-falling hysteria.
That’s who Republicans want to see Trump fighting – the former senator and secretary of state, not Republicans and others.
Trump, who appeared to open the rally by reading from prepared remarks, also railed against Hillary Clinton’s remarks on the FBI’s investigation of her private email setup before riffing on his own missteps this week.
Ryan, 46, was first elected to Congress in 1998 from Janesville, Wis. “Vote for Pence because it’s the same thing”, Trump said. Kelly Ayotte, two Republican leaders with whom he’s feuded. The heightened tensions could be particularly damaging for Trump’s unconventional campaign operation, which still depends heavily on the RNC for ground operations and fundraising.
Donald Trump called Hillary Clinton “the devil” during a rally in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, while ridiculing Sen.
Trump also told the Post that he has “always had a hard time” with McCain because he felt he had not done enough for veterans and criticized Ayotte for not wanting to associate with him despite how well he did in New Hampshire.
