Trump presses forward with attacks in Iowa
After a man wearing a turban was reportedly escorted out of a Donald Trump rally, the Republican presidential candidate asked: “He wasn’t wearing one of those hats, was he?”
Several reporters were invited to observe Trump’s visit to the church for a service that included hymns, readings and a performance by the children’s choir.
He greeted parishioners, shook hands as a sign of peace during services and sang “God is here!” Ted Cruz, released two ads Monday in Iowa and SC attacking Donald Trump on his previous support for partial-birth abortions and show him heaping praise on Cruz for fighting against Obamacare. The Texas senator is the son of an evangelical preacher and has made deep inroads with evangelical voters in Iowa.
The pastor urged the congregation to embrace Syrian refugees and Mexican migrants, and another speaker urged humility, The Washington Post reported.
Trump knows a turban from a hat; to humiliate, however, is his birthright.
De Blasio also says he respects his predecessor, Michael Bloomberg, but Americans aren’t interested in a race between billionaires Bloomberg and Trump. He received a glowing introduction last week from Jerry Falwell Jr., president of one of the country’s most prominent evangelical Christian universities, and on Saturday he campaigned with the Rev. Robert Jeffress of First Baptist Dallas, a megachurch.
“Why do I have to repent or ask for forgiveness if I am not making mistakes?”
At times, Trump has appeared to struggle to affirm his Christian credentials. He has brought to and waved a copy of his childhood Bible and a photo of his confirmation at some events as evidence of his upbringing. “I have said and I will repeat here today, if it had been a rich white suburb when the water was brown and smelly, people would immediately come to the rescue of those families”, she said.
People familiar with his plans say Bloomberg is taking preliminary steps toward an independent run and has set a March deadline for the decision. “And I think we have a good chance”. “I think he’s left no real mystery there”.
Trump highlighted that message during his campaign stop at the high school afterward.
Both candidates are largely competing for the same space as anti-establishment outsiders with a strong appeal to Tea Party activists and other grassroots conservatives fed up with business as usual in American politics. “But I believe we need to lift our vision above the obstacles in place”.
