Trump rips Cruz as ‘nuts,’ says RNC isn’t honoring pledge
“I have not seen as many personal attacks or high temperature attacks as we saw in this debate …”
“He’ll apologize, but I don’t want an apology after the election”. “You’re willing to lie about anything, but then you’re holding up a Bible?”
Trump also spent several minutes hitting Sen. “The pledge isn’t being honored by the RNC because those tickets were all special interest people”, he claimed.
“I signed a pledge”, Trump said. His appearance was a continuation of Mrs Clinton’s efforts to woo black voters, which has intensified following her 22-point loss to Mr Sanders in last week’s New Hampshire primary. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, took off the gloves on Monday and tore into each other.
Cruz on Monday released a television ad titled “Supreme Trust”, in which the narrator lists issues important to conservative voters – “life, marriage, religious liberty, the Second Amendment” – and doubts Trump’s ability to preserve them. Ted Cruz, calling him “unstable”, and the “biggest liar I’ve ever come across”.
Trump also complained that Cruz effectively stole the Iowa caucuses from him by having staff tell Ben Carson supporters that the retired neurosurgeon was dropping out of the race – which was not true. “We weren’t safe”, Trump said.
The onslaught – “blood sport” for Trump, Jeb said – was the latest example of the billionaire businessman’s penchant for mocking his rival as a weak, privileged instrument of the Republican Party establishment.
Trump has been the favorite among evangelicals in SC, which holds a Republican presidential primary Saturday. “And, frankly, there was a lot of information that the CIA and the NSA, you know, you had a lot of different agencies that were poorly coordinated because they could have found out about this”, Trump said.
“Christianity is being chopped away at”, he said.
The group’s move comes as George W. Bush re-emerges on the national political stage to help boost Jeb Bush’s campaign for the presidency.
Yet even as he defended his brother’s presidency at Saturday’s debate, Jeb Bush found a way to distance himself from George W. Bush’s business affairs and to criticize Trump at the same time.
After the debate, some Republicans again suggested Trump had gone too far. “While Donald Trump was building a reality TV show, my brother was building a security apparatus to keep us safe and I’m proud of what he did”. I am a proud member of the NRA and so are my sons.
If your only exposure to the Republican presidential race was the crowd at Saturday night’s GOP debate, you’d think Trump was the most hated man in America. “I think he would’ve done better”. Senator Lindsey Graham of SC, who ended his GOP presidential campaign in December and endorsed Jeb Bush in January, said: “The Bush name is golden in my state”.
