Trump rips into former Gov. Jeb Bush at Tampa campaign rally
Donald Trump came out to thunderous applause at his campaign rally at the Sun Dome in Tampa.
“Look at the spirit out there!” he gushes as we swing past waving supporters.
Trump would recite those same words about an hour later as part of his scoffing screed against migrants who come to the US from Mexico and Central America, but not before he remarked on how huge the crowd was, because, yes, the crowd was really big. During a ride to the airport he invited me to join, the billionaire presidential front-runner is gracious and warm, every bit the accessible everyman.
Donald Trump says that if he is elected president, his first national security decision he would make would be on how to attack the Islamic State, because “we are going to have to hit very, very hard”. Ramos is America’s most popular Spanish-language anchor, and sitting down with Trump would be a major sign of Trump’s effort to reach out.
BUSH: This is the standard operating procedure to disparage me. “To be honest, I was terrified of him before I met him – I wasn’t sure there was anybody that he liked”.
“I certainly think he’s qualified”. “They said, ‘He’s not going to run”. Well whether you like it or not, he is so weak on illegal immigration, it’s laughable. and everybody knows it. You know, his view on refugees and on undocumented people as well as on like LGBTQ people and on women are just absolutely disgusting. “You don’t want to make a deal, and all of a sudden you’re in court being sued for $30 billion”.
Supporters say he was energizing, confirming support of his ideals.
“They’ve already got plenty in the Gulf….”
“We get zero”, Trump said. He said Bush is the only candidate qualified enough to handle the responsibilities of the oval office.
Who’s left? Jeb Bush, Ben Carson, Ted Cruz, John Kasich, Marco Rubio and Donald Trump.
He asks about the credit cards.
Rubio had to pay back several thousand dollars to the state party after the Tampa Bay Times and Miami Herald revealed that Rubio had double-billed the state GOP and Florida taxpayers for flights. I’m not a politician-lover at all. “I am working for one group of people and that’s this group of people”.
With the Florida primary little more than a month away, Donald Trump’s message to the standing-room-only crowd of supporters Friday: Get out and vote. He has a vicious streak, $20 million worth of negative ads for Trump. “The head of his finance committee, Woody Johnson, he’s from Johnson & Johnson”, Trump said.
“He’s very underrated. I don’t think he gets a fair shake”.
Trump supports Scott opposing Medicaid expansion in Florida, because states that accept that funding only strengthen Obamacare.
Informed of those comments, Trump said his reaction was, “The wall just got 10 feet higher”.
“I don’t consider it me”, he said.
Mexico’s former president recently called that suggestion “stupid” and labeled Trump “completely insane”. Never heard about it, Trump says.
“We need jobs back in this country”, she said.
He is still fired up from his Tampa rally. “So then when you wonder, ‘Why is it that the politicians don’t put out drugs to competitive bidding, ‘ … and you have other Woody Johnsons, meaning other people in other industries, taking care of all these people (and saying) ‘You can’t do that, these people took good care”. I’ve had the biggest reporters, from The New York Times, say there’s no such thing like that that’s ever existed.
Write something nice, he exhorts, and then takes off.
The SUV pulls up to a private plane at Tampa Executive Airport.
