Trump Rises on a Perfect Storm of Public Fear

He asked, “You look at Paris, you look at San Bernadino, it’s given a seriousness to this race, that people are looking for: Who is prepared to be commander in chief?”

Cruz’s campaign called that report “misleading” on Thursday, but did not dispute the nature of Cruz’s emphasis on “judgment”.
During an appearance at the Heritage Foundation, a Washington-based think tank, on Thursday, Cruz refused ‘to comment on what I may or may not have said at a private fund-raiser’.
He said it would be up to the voters to decide who they want as a leader. And that is exactly why we have a democratic election to make that determination’.
Cruz’s hesitance to criticize Trump directly – even after Trump put forward a policy to ban all foreign Muslims from entering the country – stands in contrast with many of his fellow candidates, who have increasingly sharpened their criticism of the front-runner and expressed frustration with his success in the polls.
