Trump’s adviser asks ‘Says who’ when told the Donald’s losing
Michael Cohen, executive vice president at the Trump Organization and a special counsel to Donald Trump, on Wednesday appeared on CNN, clearly hoping to convince viewers that everything is just peachy at the former reality TV star’s presidential campaign.
“Says who?” Cohen interrupted.
What a time to be alive.
Keilar wasn’t exaggerating. Trump hasn’t led a nationwide general election poll since July 24, according to tracking by HuffPost Pollster.
Host Brianna Keilar began her interview by mentioning this shakeup, prompting Cohen to interrupt her to dispute the use of the term.
Keilar: “Well let me ask you about this – so you say it’s not a shake up, but you guys are down”.
Cohen: Okay, and your question is?
“Says who?” says Cohen, unable to think of a more appropriate response.
Keilar: Polls, I just told you. “I answered your question”. With fewer than three months to go, the only logical explanation for a campaign shakeup (or, pace Michael Cohen, expansion) is an acknowledgement that something needs to change.
Keilar replied “polls.” And things, well, got pretty awkward.
“All of them?” There’s a slight bit of uptalk at “all of them” implying Keiler either is allowing some wiggle room in case there’s a poll or two out there that somehow has Trump not losing badly, or that she simply can’t believe Cohen is unaware of the situation.
“Okay, which polls?” Cohen asks.
