Trump’s journalism rhetoric is no laughing matter
They say, ‘He killed reporters.’ I said, ‘Really?
“I think that he’s a strong leader, he’s a powerful leader”, Trump said of Putin.
Especially when it’s news about Donald Trump coming from his competition who are among the bottom-feeders in the polls. “He’s an embarrassment to the Bush family”, Trump said. McCain spent more than five years in the notorious “Hanoi Hilton”, a North Vietnamese prison where he was tortured. The Daily Beast goes so far as to accuse Trump of draft dodging.
He continued and said “In all fairness to Putin, you’re saying he killed people”.
Trump, who last week Putin described as a “bring and talented person”, appeared on Sunday talk shows were he reiterated his defence of the Russian leader.
ABC’s George Stephanopoulos asked about a presumed moral equivalency innate in Trump’s answer, to which Trump fired back: “I’m saying, when you say a man has killed reporters, I’d like you to prove it”.
Trump welcomed Putin’s praise, citing it as proof that a Trump administration would be able to work well with the Russians. Shortly after Putin was inaugurated for a third term in 2012, the federal assembly passed a series of bills restricting freedom of speech, which included greater censorship of online publishing, bolstering criminal defamation laws and curtailing the right to assemble. The president also used the documentary to take a familiar swipe at Western intervention in North Africa and the Middle East. “You can’t just impose your version of democracy, of good and evil, onto people of other cultures, with other religions and traditions in this mechanic, automatic way”, he said.
The mutual display of appreciation has caused many critics to voice their opinions against Trump, for a variety of reasons ranging from a general distaste for President Putin’s policies to umbrage at Trump’s comparison of killings in/by Russian Federation versus those in/by the U.S.
‘If Putin respects me and if Putin wants to call me brilliant and other things that he said which were, frankly, very nice, I’ll accept that and I’ll accept that on behalf of our country, because if we get along well with Russian Federation, that’s a positive thing, ‘ Trump said on ABC. The former Republican nominee for president tweeted, “Important distinction: thug Putin kills journalists and opponents; our presidents kill terrorists and enemy combatants”. She’s got no stamina, ” Trump said. “I didn’t praise him – he praised me”. It’s embarrassing and sad.
DONALD Trump has defended criticism over his growing relationship with Vladimir Putin, saying he is “making mincemeat” of Barack Obama.
