Trump’s Russian Federation reset ideas alarming allies, many in US

Ukraine, she said, gave up the third-largest nuclear arsenal in the world at the urging of President George H.W. Bush “because of us guarantees of our territorial integrity”. This is why Russia-related rhetoric is cheap and politicians can afford to be scathing without the fear of undermining any serious interests. US Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton on Sunday said that Russia was behind the hacking of Democratic National Committee emails and condemned Republican rival Donald Trump for having “absolute allegiance” to Russian goals.
For months now, Trump has been slyly winking at Russia’s dictatorial leader, Vladimir Putin. Trump suggested that he might well let Putin have it. However, The New York Times reported the hack began when Trump was considered a longshot.
It’s what Trump is willing to do to achieve those goals and the way he expresses his views that have shocked many foreign policy experts.
Putin was outraged by USA support for Ukraine and US military intervention around the world, particularly in Libya, on Clinton’s watch.
Above all, though, he wants to make sure that external forces do not derail his own push for continued dominance in a political landscape where the liberal opposition is nearly completely absent from TV screens and parliament.
He deflected a question about Putin’s opponents and journalists being murdered.
An additional layer of irony comes from the fact that Putin, at least publicly, has shown little interest in Trump.
“She mentioned Russian Federation only once, but it was enough to see that the era of the reset is over”, Channel One said in its report.
Hillary Clinton presided over the “Russian reset” that saw Putin roll through Ukraine to annex the Crimea region and perpetuate the ongoing conflict in that country.
In 2013, Trump tweeted: “Do you think Putin will be going to The Miss Universe Pageant in November in Moscow – if so, will he become my new best friend?”
The White House has declined to speculate on who was behind the hack of Democratic Party computers, referring to an ongoing investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Trump has a few times criticized NATO, the chief obstacle to Russian designs, as obsolete and has said he wouldn’t necessarily come to the aid of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization’s members if they are attacked by Russia. “I don’t – I’ve never met him”, Trump said.
The reason Moscow favors Trump isn’t some conspiracy.

What Moscow has already achieved is that it has made everybody believe that Putin supports Trump. “He asked the Russians to interfere in American politics”. I don’t know whether the Kremlin even has a favorite in the US elections, but I do know what Russia’s ruling politicians love to watch. The former DNC chair, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, said Mr Sander’s campaign manager, Jeff Weaver, was a “damn liar” and that they planned to call Mr Sanders an atheist to discredit him among voters in the southern states.
