Trump’s shifting positions since U.S. election win
WASHINGTON (CNN) – A top aide to Donald Trump mocked Hillary Clinton supporters Thursday for not accepting the presidential election results.
Almost all USA states will complete their popular vote counts by December 13, in time for the December 19 meeting of the Electoral College – the 538 individuals who, usually without exception, vote according to the results in each state, Wolf said, adding that in some states, the final count may come even later.
“Just give me the phone”, she said in frustration.
“I was very impressed by that answer”, said Trump, adding that he concluded that torture was “not going to make the kind of a difference that a lot of people are thinking”.
If Trump does abandon his campaign vow to appoint a special prosecutor for Clinton, it will be a reversal of a position he mentioned nearly daily on the campaign trail, when he dubbed his rival “Crooked Hillary”, and crowds at his rallies often chanted: “Lock her up”.
Trump then: “Real change begins with immediately repealing and replacing Obamacare”, he said on the eve of the election.
He held out assurances that he did not intend to embrace extremist positions in some areas.
The remarks came as Trump worked to populate his incoming administration, tweeting Tuesday that he’s “seriously considering” naming former GOP presidential rival Ben Carson to head the Department of Housing and Urban Development.
Before he returned, Clinton put an end to the debate among her inner circle by asking to talk to Trump.
Clinton scored large tallies in states like California but Trump won most of the so-called swing states, which ultimately decide the outcome of elections.
“I think right now … well, I think there is some connectivity”, Trump said when asked whether there’s a connection between human activities and climate change. “There’s never been a case like this”. She’s Donald Trump’s third campaign manager this election cycle. I’m not a great believer.I’m not a big believer in man-made climate change.”And in May, he said he would “cancel” the Paris climate change accord”. But in Tuesday’s New York Times editorial board meeting he said that his likely selection for Secretary of Defense, retired U.S. Marine General James “Mad Dog” Mattis, told the President-Elect that torture is not effective and therefore he is reversing his pro-torture stand.
“Quite honestly, Mr. Trump is not the president-elect”, said Polly Baca, an elector from Colorado, noting that Trump is not technically president-elect until the electoral votes have been compiled by the Electoral College.
As we’ve noted previously, threatening to jail one’s political opponents is the type of thing one expects in a third-world nation, not in the United States. As protestors across the country continue to voice their disgust with Trump’s ghoulish transition team and his hard stance on immigration, the man himself has even been letting down those who got him into office.
