Trump’s SNL appearance “Huge!” Beats Cyrus/Clinton numbers
Love him or hate him, you just can’t ignore him: Donald Trump’s guest turn as host on ‘Saturday Night Live’ over the weekend has helped the NBC show record its highest ratings in three years, with a whopping 6.6 household rating. It was Larry David, a stand-up comic who played Trump’s Democrat opponent Bernie Sanders in the show.
The Saturday TV platform granted Mr Trump fanned the flames of outrage sparked in June when he announced his Republican candidacy for president and described a few Mexicans who are in the United States illegally as criminals and rapists.
In a statement to Rolling Stone, Montgomery said David will receive the $5,000 and a free “Deport Racism” T-shirt for making the interruption, even though it was planned all along.
“I heard if I yelled that, they’d give me $5,000”, Larry David said, shrugging his shoulders.
In a press release issued Sunday, the PAC said it would stand behind the offer.
According to MSN News on November 9, David will get that $5,000 promised by an immigrant’s rights group who offered this to anyone $5,000 who was willing to heckle Trump during his “SNL” appearance by yelling “Trump’s racist“.
The New York Times labeled the episode “anodyne”, “cringeworthy” and “predictable”, while The Hollywood Reporter called Trump’s sketches “rarely amusing”, “toothless” and “lifeless”.
The presidential candidate on “SNL” brought in an overnight rating of 6.6, the biggest overnight rating for the long-time variety show since 2012.
Saturday Night Live has become notorious for its comedic political commentary. At the time, it was the highest rated “SNL” in 14 years. So when he got the call from the network to do an SNL show, Trump agreed. Last night, the GOP frontrunner hosted “Saturday Night Live” amid protests from the Latino community, which did not want him hosting the long-running comedy show.
“Now that I’m here, this is actually the best monologue in “SNL” history; can you believe it” Killam aka Donald, crowed. Oyoyoy, I knew this was gonna happen.
The only humiliating thing the writers managed to coax Trump into doing was a parody of Drake’s oft-mocked “Hotline Bling” video, in which the rapper dances his own unique routine.
