Trump’s Support with GOP Voters Soars to 39 Percent in New Poll
Jeb Bush opened up about his daughter’s past prescription-drug addiction.
“Everybody knows Marco’s positions”, Rubio spokesman Alex Conant said in a statement.
But none dared mention the hard political truth before them: that their competing campaigns are cannibalizing each other’s support – and that if they split the electorate, the nation’s first primary on February 9 could mark the GOP establishment’s last stand in 2016. They’re in it to win it, they insist.
In a July CNN poll, just 51% of Republicans viewed Trump favorably, compared with 40% who saw him in an unfavorable light. Thirty-three percent said Trump, followed closely by Cruz at 28 percent. “It’s just a joke”.
Donald Trump seems set to end 2015 as the dominant force in the race for next year’s Republican nomination for president, with Texas Sen.
“However, if [Rubio] wins the primary, I’d be happy to support him, because I think he brings a lot to the table”, Doherty said.
Real estate mogul Donald Trump speaks to a luncheon at the National Press Club.
Janet Hotchkiss, of Middleton, N.H. “That’s not the kind of on-the-job training that we need for the White House”. “And I don’t blame him”.
At a time when Hillary Clinton remains the favorite over the insurgency of Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders among Democrats, Trump scares the bejesus out of establishment GOP conservatives, who fear his inflammatory immigrant-bashing, war-mongering, and authoritarian belligerence will damage their party for decades. “And the governors are not commander-in-chief”, he said, before adding “and neither are senators”.
Every presidential nominee in modern history has won either Iowa or New Hampshire. While the large number of days he has logged in the state has driven the New Jersey governor higher in the polls in recent weeks, he has yet to catch up to Trump. As for who’s favored, Politico reports, “In interviews with more than two dozen party officials, political operatives and activists, Ted Cruz and Donald Trump were repeatedly named as front-runners and likely winners in one of the most conservative regions of the country”.
But even Trump hit a new low this week in the insult arena. This reality stands out even when talking about a man who routinely shows no respect for racial, ethnic or religious minorities, the handicapped, veterans or virtually any other group you want to name.
“I think the enthusiasm for this film and people wanting to see it is partly based on this election year we’re in now and the various tragedies that have occurred recently and what do we do?” “Your donors dry up, your supporters dry up”.
How is it that the results they generated for the leading candidates were so different? Much of his support comes from lower-income, less-educated voters. Bush often talks about the amount of jobs he created while in office. United States political parties are very resilient and make adjustments. Rand Paul at 4 percent, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush at 3 percent, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee and Ohio Gov. John Kasich at 2 percent each, and all other candidates earning 1 percent or less. But I’d ask a small favor from these candidates: Please stop saying how Christian you are unless you show at least a few signs of understanding the social obligations the word imposes.
Bush took more direct aim at Trump during a campaign event in upstate New Hampshire.
“I hear people say, ‘Well, I’ve narrowed it down to eight!'” he said Wednesday in Franklin. “But stupid is really, you know, is the next stage”, he said earlier this month. “But not just be angry…”
That is because the steady decline in approval for news organizations, along with the rise of partisan media outfits like Fox and MSNBC, means there no longer are authoritative neutral referees for national politics with enough credibility to discredit false claims. “What happens in Iowa and New Hampshire helps to reconfigure the race and determine what’s going to happen”, Christie told ABC’s This Week on Sunday.
