Trump Says Comey `Guilty of Crimes,’ Slams Justice for Inaction
“That’s why he had that special government employee status – SGE status”.
Comey reiterated his statement from just days ago, when, during an ABC News interview he said the GOP had lost him, and many other Republicans, due to their enabling of Trump and his incendiary rhetoric. If I thought it was likely, I’d be there no question.
“It appears to a lot of folks, ‘you treated the Hillary Clinton case different than the Russian Federation case, ‘” Comey said. Trump’s called Comey a “slimeball” and accused him of improperly leaking information.
“‘Leaking’ is disclosing a confidential conversation, which is exactly what he did”, said Gowdy.
“He wasn’t supposed to meet with Kim Jong-Un, but he did”, Trump said.
Trump has increased his criticism of the Russian Federation investigation since FBI raids on an office and hotel room used by Michael Cohen, his personal attorney who is under federal criminal investigation for business dealings reportedly including a payment to an actor in pornographic films who claims to have had a relationship with Trump.
But Trump quickly turned to slamming his own Justice Department’s leadership, complaining that 13 of Mueller’s investigators are Democrats, and that Andrew McCabe, the deputy director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation who was recently fired just shy of his retirement, accepted $700,000 from a Clinton ally for his wife’s unsuccessful 2016 Virginia state Senate campaign.
The FBI aides in our checks and balances system, thus its loyalty is to the law, and to the American people. The president is not wrong.
He said he wants Republicans to think about how they would answer their grandchildren in the future if they ask about the events of today. Baier then played a video of Comey testifying before Congress under oath that Clinton had lied to the public about facts pertaining to her e-mails.
One in particular is an August 15, 2016, exchange in which Strzok referred to an “insurance policy” he wanted in the event of a Trump election win.
He explained that in May 2016, after about 10 months of investigating and before the Clinton interview, he began to realize “it was unlikely to end in a case that the prosecutors at DOJ would bring”.
People online called the president’s interview a “meltdown”. “[He was] the deputy head of counter intelligence”, Jordan said. And you don’t know who funded it but- and you don’t ask or find out? “He’s been demoted and reassigned for his behavior”.
Comey also revealed in the Fox News interview that he shared four memos total with his legal team, saying, “I gave the memos to my legal team after I gave them to Dan Richman, after I asked him to get it out the media”.
Critics say the president’s attacks on Mueller are a prelude to efforts to remove the special counsel, something Trump’s attorneys have denied. “I’ve only seen it in the media”. “I don’t understand how that’s possible”. “What I didn’t know was his past and this traumatic experience he’d gone through that pushed him into law enforcement”.
“This was a stunning moment”, York said. In the most stunning part of the interview, Trump said that most of Cohen’s work isn’t as an attorney, but as a private businessman.
“[Comey] also seemed to repeat a kind of left-wing talking point that it began with Republicans”.
Trump also lauded his own performance as president and his efforts to “drain the swamp” of entrenched interests in Washington. Once he won the nomination, the Democrats then retained Fusion, who then retained Steele.
These texts include the reaction of the two to the firing of FBI Director James Comey on May 9, 2017. The people that are doing the investigation – you have 13 people that are Democrats.
