Trump says he could ‘shoot somebody,’ not lose votes
Ted Cruz, R-Texas speaks during a campaign stop at Lino’s Restaurant in Sanbornville, N.H. Cruz is dreaming of a face-off with Democratic front-runner Hill…
Kicking off an Iowa tour right after receiving the endorsement of conservative personality Glenn Beck, the Texas senator said that Trump’s proposal was merely a “touchback” program that immediately allows the undocumented back over the border after deportations.
Just before Beck officially made his endorsement, he brought Cruz onstage and handed him his George Washington compass, a symbol of radio host’s pursuit of truth.
Beck rallied the group of approximately 1600 Iowans who gathered on a cold Saturday afternoon.
John Kasich: Polling is all over the place in New Hampshire, but if you look at the broad swath of data out there, it seems likely that the OH governor is running slightly ahead of the various Trump alternatives in the state.
“How do we win?” “The time for silliness and reality show tactics has passed”, Beck charged at a Cruz rally. Trump told a crowd in Iowa on Saturday.
“We are standing at a crossroads that is extraordinarily important, fundamental transformation is coming our way”. Where are we headed? “Today’s Washington will not be found in the garish light of gold, but rather, in the bold service of a man who stands tirelessly for what he deeply believes – that government should be of the people, by the people, and for the people”. Trump remarked at a campaign stop at Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa.
Speaking to reporters in New Hampshire, Cruz repeated his charge that the Republican establishment is “rushing to support Donald Trump”. He declined to respond directly, but tongue-in-cheek promised that he would not shoot anyone on Fifth Avenue.
Trump and Cruz disagreed over immigration policy. He said he wanted to avoid personal attacks, but that it was also important to at policy and records. Some have questioned Trump’s religious convictions.
“Ted Cruz is a total hypocrite and, until recently, a Canadian citizen who may not even have a legal right to run for President”, Trump alleged. The coalition which the Cruz campaign has assembled – a confused-yet-powerful mix of Tea Party-types, evangelicals, and other disparate conservative forces in American society – is far more threatening than Trump’s bonkers insurgency.
With eight days until the February 1 caucus, Iowans may be freezing but they are feeling the heat from the Rubio, Cruz and Trump campaigns.
