Trump Says He Heard From ‘Hundreds’ Who Saw 9/11 Celebrations in US
Trump: “It did happen”.
“Stephanopoulos: “… with your own eyes?”
The board wrote the tactic is “nothing new” in politics, comparing Trump’s words to comments Joseph McCarthy made as he ran for Senate and George Wallace made after being elected governor of Alabama. News outlets were quick to say, “it’s not so, it never happened”. And I watched in Jersey City, New Jersey, where thousands and thousands of people were cheering as that building was coming down.
This invented anecdote tells you plenty about Trump and nothing about anyone else. Recall that Trump claimed he saw this on television – and that it was “well covered at the time”. “But he doesn’t know what he is talking about, and he is not a serious leader”.
I mean. What. The.
He continued: “If you don’t mind, I want to be, I want to surveil”. In fact, what Trump described would have been big news, and the reporters at the Daily News, Star-Ledger and elsewhere who tried and failed to track down rumors of 9/11 celebrations could have just turned on the TV to get their story. “And I was making the point that it was inappropriate”. I wonder if Carson will suffer pollwise for having the integrity to correct himself here when it means siding with the media (sort of) in their dispute with Trump over whether there’s a huge fifth column of New Jersey Muslims or not.
In elections and campaigns past, there would have been a price to pay for The Donald’s complete flaunting of fact. In this one, there’s plenty of reason to think that he not only will get away with saying it but also that it may even help him among certain segments of the electorate. Those reports do not exist, but that hasn’t stopped Trump from repeating the claim, over and over again, in recent days.
Jones also criticized Trump supporter Jeffrey Lord, another participant in the segment, for defending the candidate regardless of the racist and derogatory things he says.
“We’re gonna be so vigilant, we’re gonna be so sharp, and we’re not letting others in because, you know, we’ve gotta fix our country”. “You can see and you report them to the local police”.
“One thing nearly all Iowa Republicans agree upon is that Syrian refugees should not be allowed into the United States or into Iowa”, Brown said.
“The man you say was, I don’t know, roughed up – he was so obnoxious and so loud, he was screaming”, Mr. Trump said Sunday. He went on: “If it doesn’t work, they deserve it anyway for what they’re doing to us”.
“Maybe if you walk in my footsteps, you can see that I am not any less human than you are”.
