Trump says he’s not getting enough GOP support
Trump’s meager May haul drew a flurry of taunts on Twitter on Tuesday morning, including a #TrumpSoPoor hashtag mocking the billionaire.
Among them: assailing a judge’s Mexican heritage, asserting that President Barack Obama sympathized with terrorists after the Orlando nightclub attacks, and trying to explain away his campaign’s dismal fundraising. When he campaigns, he often chooses his properties or his own Trump Tower in New York City, which serves as headquarters.
Presumed Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump is brushing aside questions about a large cash-on-hand disparity with Democrat Hillary Clinton while complaining he isn’t getting enough support in his own party. “Why, himself, of course”. Ted Cruz’s presidential campaign. His campaign began June with $1.3 million in the bank, compared with the $42 million presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton had amassed. The $3 million he collected in May donations is about one-tenth what Clinton raised.
New fundraising reports covering the first few weeks after Trump became the presumptive nominee show the RNC raised $13 million in May – about what it raised in April, before his rivals left the race.
The Republican National Committee, meanwhile, announced it raised $11 million in May, and had $19.9 million in cash at the beginning of June. “There must be one person in charge”, said Roger Stone, a longtime confidante of both Manafort and Trump. But there are signs he is taking fundraising more seriously. He is vowing to match up to $2 million in contributions. Clinton, in contrast, has had a veritable campaign army mobilized for months, backed by millions of dollars in battleground-state television advertising. “That’s right. THE FIRST ONE”. “Some are saying the finance organization is highly disorganized”.
Political strategist and pundit Susan Del Percio noted that Trump could “infuse his campaign quickly with his own money, and that is what potential donors are probably waiting to see him do”.
That extends to his propensity to mix business with politics.
Through the end of May, Trump’s campaign had plunged at least $6.2 million back into Trump corporate products and services, a review of Federal Election Commission filings shows.
Not so for Trump. Throughout the nomination battle it worked well for Trump, but cracks are starting to show. That’s about 10 percent of his total campaign expenditures. It’s normal for campaigns to shuffle staff, even at the top level’.
They also require some complicated record-keeping.
The New York Times reported that the Trump train’s general-election strategy will move forward without Lewandowski, whose tenure was marked by contentious media appearances, fierce loyalty and a standoff with a reporter who claimed he physically battered her.
Trump’s children have also taken on real responsibility as some of their father’s most effective surrogates by doing TV interviews, headlining campaign events and appearing in videos to help turn out voters. That’s why Forbes and Bloomberg avoided the issue altogether, former aides said.
“The campaign needs to continue to grow to be successful”, he said.
But even with Lewandowski’s departure, Trump faces an uphill climb. “I may do that again in the general election”, Trump said in a phone interview.
“If need be, there could be unlimited “cash on hand” as I would put up my own money, as I have already done through the primaries, spending over $50 million”, Trump said in the statement.
When Trump flies, he uses his airplane.
The campaign has paid about $520,000 to Trump Tower Commercial LLC and the Trump Corporation for rent and utilities.
The Trump campaign has not spent anything on television advertisements, and has given no indications of doing so.
