Trump scraps endorsement event after black pastors object
When confronted, the Republican presidential frontrunner remained firm.
Trump ignited further controversy when he tweeted a graphic containing false claims about USA statistics suggesting black Americans were the overwhelming source of gun violence. “They destroy half the stuff”, Trump asserted.
Let’s briefly highlight some of the recent examples of Trump being “factually challenged”. Plus no video footage of the cheering crowds can be located.
Pastor Victor Couzens, from Cincinnati, Ohio, said he nonetheless felt an obligation to attend the meeting to hear what Trump had to say.
Asked if he would support Trump for the presidency if he won the primary contest which begins in Iowa on 1 February, Bush said: “Look, I’ve said … because anybody is better than Hillary Clinton. It was 14 years ago but I saw it on television, I saw clips and so did many other people, and many saw it in person”, Trump said.

“The meeting was presented not as a meeting to endorse but a meeting to engage in dialogue”, he said Friday on Facebook. Obama has asked to allow in 10,000 refugees, as the nonpartisan Factcheck.org has noted.
But are Trump supporters being misled by bogus claims?
And the list of lies goes on.
Individual Muslims have fired back at Trump. “I’m not going to take it back”.
“I’ve had many endorsements today”, Trump told waiting journalists.
When his remarks were revisited on NBC, Trump said: “All over the world – forget about New Jersey for a second – all over the world, it was reported that Muslims were celebrating the fall of the World Trade Center”.
Mr Trump was also criticised for mocking a New York Times’ reporter’s physical disability.
“It’s very unfortunate the way he has talked to not just the African-American community, but things he’s said about women and Mexicans and Muslims”, Couzens said. In a time when Muslims face increasing Islamophobia in the aftermath of the Paris attacks, and many consider the political climate to be worse than after September 11, these kinds of statements display a willful disregard for truth, and the safety of Muslims. But the Trump campaign is like an extended version of the Comedy Central show, “Drunk History” where people make up facts surrounding historical events for laughs.
He weathers storms of criticism and fact checkers by ignoring facts in favor of what Stephen Colbert famously labeled “truthiness”, a falsehood that “feels” truthful enough to be regarded as truth.
What is really shocking is that a poll last month found that 33% of Americans still think Trump is “honest and trustworthy”.
It could also be possible that the clergy who were praying for Mr. Trump and admonishing his humility and boldness are full of sh*t and just want access to a celebrity in order to raise their profile. The fourth Republican debate is held in two parts, one main debate for the top eight candidates, and another for four other candidates lower in the current polls. The brother of former president George W. Bush previously told reporters that he does not believe Trump’s claim about Muslims cheering on television after the 9/11 atrocities.
