Trump Suggests Vets Who Need Mental Health Services Aren’t ‘Strong’
Perkins credited Trump with action taken Thursday by Rep. Steve Scalise, R-La., and Rep. Jody Hice, R-Ga., who introduced legislation to allow churches and other nonprofit organizations to endorse candidates for public office.
It just goes to show once again Trump doesn’t have what it takes to lead the armed services (let alone the nation). Obama pointed out that asking for help is an act of courage.
Donald Trump told a group of military veterans on Monday that some members of the military develop mental health issues because they are not “strong” and “can’t handle it”.
Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump spoke at a veterans’ event in Herndon, Va., on Monday. “But a lot of people can’t handle it”. “We are losing so many great people who could be taken care of if they had proper care”.
A web video by the Republican National Committee references four cases in which Kaine defended people accused of rape or murder. Doing so may result in civil and/or criminal penalties. But as governor of Virginia he did not interfere with 11 executions.
The CEO of Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America, Paul Rieckhoff, tweeted that Trump’s remark “perpetuates stigma”.
“I will make sure our military is the best in the world – in cyber-offense and cyber-defense … really in every way”, Trump said.
Trump added: “I think we need to go back to a little more old-fashioned method of thinking”. “It’s not something where you can just look in a mirror and say, ‘Suck it up'”.
The Clinton campaign says the ad will air on national cable stations. Hillary Clinton has since seized upon these comments (as well as others made concerning the military) in one of her attack ads. “She’s [Clinton’s] saying Russia, Russia, Russia, but I don’t – maybe it was”. He said that the country’s military was “depleted” and he vowed to expand it.
But even as his supporters pushed back, Trump’s troubled mounted.
The comments sparked some criticism on Twitter and generated a series of headlines that suggested Mr. Trump was implying that people suffering from PTSD are weak.
Update: The veteran who asked Trump the question at today’s town hall also thinks his answer is perfectly fine.
He attended a military preparatory school but did not serve in the US military. About a week ago, Trump’s hotel chain agreed to pay penalties and overhaul its data security policies after data breaches exposed the credit card numbers of tens of thousands of customers. He said he would make cybersecurity an “immediate and top priority”.
However, Trump has sent mixed messages about safeguarding against online attacks from foreign intruders.
His task force would be assembled by the Department of Justice and work with local and state law enforcement authorities “to crush this still developing area of crime”, Trump said. The FBI director chastised Clinton for use of the server but did not recommend prosecution. Trump allegedly rated the size of their breasts and discussed who he would like to have sex with. Former cast and crew members from the reality TV show “The Apprentice” described for the first time his treatment of women on the set. Trump also requested female contestants wear shorter dresses that revealed more cleavage, the AP reported.
The plan is mostly needed, Trump said, because of lines at the VA clinics. “These outlandish, unsubstantiated, and totally false claims fabricated by publicity hungry, opportunistic, disgruntled former employees, have no merit whatsoever”, Hicks said.
