Trump supporter grabs, appears to punch protester at North Carolina rally
Lara Trump helped kick off her father-in-law’s ground game in the Charlotte area Wednesday, rallying volunteers at four field offices.
But she said she was shocked at her experience at Monday’s Donald Trump rally that ended with the 69-year-old being punched by a SC man, police say. The Republican nominee went on to repeat of Clinton: “She talks about people like they are objects, not human beings”.
In the video, a man later identified by police as Vellanti can be seen slapping at and grabbing protesters as they were being led out of the arena.
In total five people were arrested at the rally.
No injuries were reported, except for Teter’s.
The supporters and protesters who showed up to the rally have mostly made up their minds about the election, but each tried to sway the other side anyway. Marco Rubio and actor Jon Voight, who were all in town for a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Buncombe County Republican headquarters, which was held on Tuesday.
NBC News was unable to track down the protesters after the event.
“Just because we’re opening offices now don’t make any assumptions on that”, she said outside a GOP Victory office on Park Road.
He also said there were almost 18,000 ticket requests. Upwards of 6,000 filled the U.S. Cellular Center as Trump took the stage to thunderous applause on Monday night.
Lara Trump also visited offices in Huntersville and Indian Trail.
He moved quickly to Clinton’s “hate-filled and negative campaign”, saying his campaign of hope stands in stark contrast, and made it to the “very frightful statements” shortly after.
After the one protester was escorted out, the man pulled another toward him and shouted back and forth with a third, female protester while a member of Trump’s advance team held him back.
Some Trump supporters here acknowledged that a small fraction of Trump backers could be viewed as having deplorable views, but added that every movement has a fringe group. Part two of two. The scuffle was the first violent incident at a Trump rally in months. Then, “It’s OK, the cameras are following this”.
Another man was arrested on a disorderly conduct charge at the same rally.
So much for peaceful protest. In a television interview on Monday morning, though, Trump briefly addressed the incident and said that he hopes Clinton gets better soon.
“I’m exhausted of picking up the phone and being asked if I want to speak English”, he said. A man turned around and punched a 69-year-old woman on an oxygen tank in the face.

She liked Trump’s comments about keeping America safe, on repealing Obamacare, his support for the military and “just about everything” he said. She also had a scraped elbow and pain in her ribs.
Despite the heated environment at that time, Teter said, “they were peace marches. I cried when he dropped out”, Jordan said. “She’s like our mascot”.
That is when Richard Campbell of Edisto Island, South Carolina, turned and allegedly attacked her.
According to ABC 13, Teeter chanted “dump, dump, dump” in response to Trump supporters chanting “Trump, Trump, Trump, Trump. #AVLPD”, the police department tweeted Tuesday.
“We need somebody who is not a politician, not an insider”, he said.
