Trump Taunts Protester at Rally: ‘Your Mother is Voting for Trump’
He claims the Democratic National Committee rigged the primary in favor of Hillary Clinton - even though Clinton won the popular vote - and tells his supporters that her campaign will only win battleground states this fall if “they cheat”.
According to a poll released by Public Policy Polling this week, 69% of Trump backers in North Carolina think a Hillary Clinton win would be the result of a rigged election. His poor showing in recent national surveys, however, has left him sowing doubt about the integrity of the process. All of this makes Trump’s election observers seem unnecessary – unless of course they serve some other goal than preventing fraud, such as intimidating legitimate voters.
We’re gonna watch Pennsylvania.
Trump went on to say that “the only way” he can lose in Pennsylvania is if there is cheating. “I have to really go full blast and get this thing done because we will make America great again”.
Beyond that, he’s started putting the responsibility for the election on his supporters – not only in their task of going out to vote but to make sure that voting is being tracked accurately. Or will Trump want his election observers in every state?
Sessions emphasized that Trump’s focus on trade reform that puts the priorities of USA workers first, combatting terrorism, bolstering national security, securing the borders and clamping down on illegal immigration are all “correct” and in line with Americans thinking. And there has been palpable discontent with Democrats here for some time: Romney cut Obama’s 2008 statewide margin of 620,478 to 309,840 in 2012. [Clinton] can’t beat what’s happening.
Trump told a rally in Altoona on Friday that he plans to watch certain parts of Pennsylvania closely on Election Day.
In the absence of a Pennsylvania ID law that might deter certain voters, Trump’s call to action could be seen as another strategy to deter voters: voter intimidation.
The fact that Trump will nearly certainly lose Pennsylvania – even without the intervention of imaginary illegal voters – doesn’t come as a great surprise. A form on his campaign’s website asks voters to help Trump “stop crooked Hillary from rigging this election”.
Brad Roae, state representative from the Sixth Legislative District, said, “Donald Trump is more likely to keep taxes and spending under control”.
It is legal in most states for politicians to have election observers, but it is not legal for those observers to intimidate voters. What Trump is encouraging is vigilante citizens harassing voters at polling places, asking that they prove they are who they say they are.
