Trump to address Jerusalem embassy opening by video
Given all of the Trump administration’s big foreign-policy announcements in recent weeks, the official move of the USA embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem on Monday has seemingly flown under the radar.
The incursion into Kerem Shalom took place during a weekly mass protest in which thousands of Palestinians gathered along the Israel-Gaza border.
The Palestinian propagandists and their supporters try to portray the Gaza protests as the peaceful exercise of freedom of speech and assembly by unarmed Palestinian civilians. The latest move of shifting the USA embassy to Jerusalem would embolden Israel further to turn more ruthless against its regional foes and the result will be worsening of the regional peace and stability. Lieberman said he thought that for Trump, this is “a show of both personal and national strength: that both he and the U.S. do what they think is right”.
One source who routinely advises the White House on Middle East issues told the Free Beacon that objections to the embassy move by some European countries have fallen flat, only reinforcing the the widespread worldwide support for the move.
“This is the most flagrant and hostile act by the United States against the Palestinians since the beginning of the [Israeli] occupation”, Yasser Abd Rabbo, a member of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) Executive Committee member and former minister of information, said, according to Gulf News. Every president exercised that right until President Donald Trump.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held a reception Sunday night at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the lead-up to Monday’s embassy opening.
Bachmann asked for forgiveness from the Jewish people “for the terrible and arrogant way Christians, I include myself among them, treated and regarded the Jewish people”. Academics such as Paul Musgrave and Dan Nexon have noted that the foreign-policy community in the United States has become politically polarized in recent years.
“Some petrol stations have storage for maybe a day or two, so the crisis will begin by Monday or Tuesday should the crossing remained closed”, he said. The embassy move, Buttu said, was “making it worse because it’s going to embolden the extreme right in Israel”.
Given the dire humanitarian situation in the coastal enclave – with Gazans exposed to pollution, impure water and epidemics – Israeli security officials believe that it is in Hamas’s interests to redirect the citizens frustrations towards Israeli soldiers in order to stave of steeping responsibility on the militant group.
Some 1,000 police officers will be stationed around the embassy and nearby neighborhoods for the inauguration, officials said.
Friedman in the past has been a supporter of Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank.
Riders from the Samson Riders, an Israeli motorcycle club, arrive on a road leading to the new U.S. Embassy during a group ride from the old embassy in Tel Aviv, ahead of the official opening, in Jerusalem, Sunday, May 13, 2018.
Earlier Sunday, young Jews marched and danced through city streets to celebrate Jerusalem Day, which commemorates the 1967 reunification of Jerusalem by Israel after the Six-Day War.
Speaking on the eve of the embassy opening, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said he was hopeful of success in efforts to end the decades-old conflict while National Security Advisor John Bolton said it should make peace “easier”.
In the case of the Jerusalem embassy, Trump has insisted he could build a new embassy on the cheap with his business acumen. Late last month, for example, a Gaza cleric Sheikh Musa Abu Jleidan preached violence when he said that the “Great Return March” is a “form of Jihad” that “does not eliminate the need for Jihad by the sword, by missiles, and by rockets”.
No Israelis have been wounded and the military has faced criticism over the use of live fire. With powerful players backing both Israel and Palestine, expect to see a political tug of war over this dually claimed capital.
In the decades since 1967, worldwide consensus has been that the city’s status must be negotiated between the two sides, but Trump broke with that to global outrage.
He added: “Move your embassies to Jerusalem because it advances peace, and that’s because you can’t base peace on a foundation of lies”. “Two states means a Jewish state with an Arab component, a Palestinian state living in dignity side-by-side with Israel”, Graham said. Nowadays, the only country left to challenge the Trump administration’s Jerusalem decision is Turkey.
