Trump Today: President predicts ‘tremendous success’ after well-received speech
The Dow Jones industrial average’s close above 21,000 came just 24 trading days after the index hit the 20,000 milestone.
Though the president’s famous Twitter feed was mostly quiet – he did tweet an all-caps “THANK YOU!” just before 9am Wednesday – several staffers took to their boss’ social media platform of choice to applaud the speech.
But vice-president Mike Pence took to the airwaves to defend the president, telling MSNBC: “What the American people saw last night is the president I serve with every day. broad shoulders, big heart, reaching out, focusing on the future”.
A central theme of the speech was Trump’s doctrine of economic nationalism as he pledged to prioritise American companies and revive the manufacturing industry. When asked about anti-Semitism in a press conference he became hostile. Trump finally did so with his first address before Congress. “The longer Trump is in office, the greater the risk that his popularity will decline and that will limit his ability to move legislation”, West said. The numbers, however, did not include streaming data. That was the viewership total a year ago for Barack Obama’s final State of the Union address. Put aside that upbraiding his female critics is one habit that is very hard for Trump to break.
Mr Trump will also have to cut money from other areas to meet that expenditure to balance his budget.
Stefan Passantino, deputy counsel on compliance and ethics, wrote that he met with Conway and resolved the matter.
“Despite the mature demeanor, the markets are still leery that Trump’s agenda could stall if the divided congressional Republicans can’t agree on an Obamacare replacement”, Valliere says.
“It is not compassionate, but reckless, to allow uncontrolled entry from places where proper vetting can not occur”, Trump said.
“I don’t know that that was his intent”, said Sen. “Now that doesn’t mean you throw those people out in the street, it doesn’t mean we go back to the system we had before 2010”.
But conservatives who have been rebelling against that plan, denouncing the credits as a costly new entitlement, disagreed.
It is worth noting that a large audience is not necessarily a good sign. In an emotional high point, he singled out the widow of a fallen Navy SEAL who was sitting in the guest box and joined lawmakers in sustained applause for her husband’s sacrifice.
Multiple officials also credited Trump with the bulk of the remarks.
“That should be on the (Senate) floor”.
However, he said the US$54 billion figure was misleading.
“He had a lot of voices around him giving him ideas and suggestions that he incorporated, but he really set out to achieve that optimistic tone and that was something she was supportive of”.
Representative Brad Sherman of California said the examples of immigrants Trump highlighted in his speech were unrepresentative of the undocumented population, which is estimated to be 11 million people.
“According to data provided by the Department of Justice, the vast majority of individuals convicted for terrorism-related offenses since 9/11 came here from outside of our country”, Trump claimed.
On Wednesday, the White House was jubilant. And the kind of compromise he’s gesturing at – mass legalization without citizenship – is the ultimate win-win for his party’s Establishment: Corporations would (likely) retain access to an underclass of workers who lack the full protections of American labor law, while GOP politicians would be spared the fear of 11 million new low-income, Hispanic voters turning red states blue.
Trump has been dogged by questions about his advisers’ ties to Russian Federation since the campaign.
