Trump Tower renamed ‘Dump Tower’ on Google Maps
Vancouver’s Trump Tower is sporting a new name on Google Maps: it’s been changed to ‘Dump Tower’. It’s unclear when the switch occurred, but people on Twitter began tweeting about the new “brand identity” about 2 p.m. eastern time. A few hours later, some users noticed that a second location – the Trump International Hotel & Tower in Columbus Circle – has also been renamed to “Dump, PIX11 reported”.
A Google spokesperon told the Associated Press that the change was reversed once it was brought to the their attention from the prank going viral.
A spokeswoman for Google said user contributions help provide an up-to-date map, but also occasionally lead to inaccuracies.
It is common knowledge that Google allows user to edit roads and add landmarks on Google Maps, but ideally, changes are reviewed and approved by moderators.
The 58-story monolith was the official headquarters for Trump throughout his campaign, and has remained his home base now that he’s the future POTUS.

A spokesperson for Google could not be immediately reached for comment.
Some analysts believe that the name change is a form of digital protest against Trump winning the USA presidential election.
Trump Tower is the beacon of the President-elect’s business empire, located in the heart of New York City.
Prices are falling significantly at Trump Tower, and at least 31 units are for sale or rent at the complex on Fifth Avenue, according to an analysis by The Hollywood Reporter.
