Trump wins Christie enforcement, robbing Rubio of momentum
Former Republican presidential contender Chris Christie has formally backed Donald Trump for the nomination, becoming the most prominent mainstream party member to endorse the controversial billionaire.
New Jersey governor Chris Christie has endorsed Donald Trump in the race for the Republican presidential nomination. “I am really proud to receive the support of the Governor and his family”, Trump said. I originally said I’d like it to be a governor, but unfortunately, the American people are not going for a governor this year.
Baker said he doesn’t know which candidate he will vote for on Super Tuesday and has no plans to endorse anyone else.
Christie’s endorsement came after Rubio shattered months of relative peace with the Republican front-runner by repeatedly attacking Trump’s character in the debate.
For most candidates, the support of their party leaders is a key component to winning the nomination, but Trump’s candidacy has defied the usual rules.
The comments about heritage are clearly alluding to the fact that Trump’s two top competitors, Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio, are both Hispanic. He called Trump a “fighter” and praised Trump for being “someone who when he makes a promise, he keeps it”.
Trump fought back, going after Rubio during a news conference and rally in Fort Worth, recounting how Rubio looked backstage during Thursday’s CNN debate. “In that process, I have learned to respect his opinion and his judgment”, Wentworth said.

But Doherty respects Christie from a political standpoint.
From the start of Thursday night’s debate, a fiery Rubio went hard after Trump, attacking his position on immigration, his privileged background, his speaking style and more.
“So if the polls are to be believed, and the election results from some of these states continue to go, then we have to view what will the conservative movement be like if the front runner in this race right now, Donald Trump, is put in charge of the conservative movement?”
In an interview with Bret Baier on Fox News’ “Special Report”, he accused Trump of being a “con man” at least three times and also called him “a clown”, adding, “it’s time to take the mask off this guy”.
Cruz said the Christie endorsement had little impact on his own focus on Super Tuesday. “You ought to see him backstage, he was putting on makeup with a trowel”. Moreover, Rubio demonstrated, as Trump replied, that Rubio could think on his feet by knocking down the Trump replies with a cool relaxed confidence that voters hadn’t seen before.
